I can't blame afkers anymore

several seasons ago before snowballing became the only thing that matters. reporting people who afked because they think the game is lost was a huge deal.. Before snowballing became a thing and turtling was a thing. You never quit games because any game could be turned around...

Now though.. with the past 2 seasons.. I honestly can't blame people who afk 15 minutes in when the game is obviously going in favor of the enemy, because the game is so snowbally it's a 90% chance they are gonna win regardless.. Sure you get a few occassional and very wide spread turn arounds, but they seriously are not worth the effort of the other 100 games you gotta claw through... I can't blame them.. I don't report them anymore.

I'm also going to join them by afking the game for the most part. I may play a game here or there once a week, but that's about it from here on out. Riot is just too stupid to get why people do these things, and how bad snowballing is in a game like this.. It effects not only the game balance itself. (lol at "late game" champs...") But how people react to losing lanes.. by afking.. because they know chances are, the game is lost.. Can't blame the players at this point.

I think the most tilting thing is when people give up on the game because THEY are not doing well. They think that if they didn't win lane, or got camped that the game is over. Those are the most frustrating games. For games where all lanes lose and stuff I agree, because people never want to ff.

Marshbouy11/5/2018, 3:53:48 AM34 votes

I still blame them. I've had multiple games in the last few days where major comebacks were made, or were very close to being made but a tilted idiot kept throwing themselves at the enemy team until they finally killed the nexus.

I never understand the mentality of people like this. You play Ranked games to climb the ladder but you're going to guarantee you lose by AFKing?

The game is more than just the first 15 minutes of the game. The real question is why play Ranked to start with? You can never climb the ladder by having a "Quit First" mentality. So why bother? Just stay in Normals where it doesn't matter and your poor attitude won't affect anyone else advancing like they should.

Ok sure but why11/5/2018, 3:51:25 AM12 votes

I used to not afk, until I realized that literally afking matches would punish me less than possibly flaming my 0/11/2 support after 30 minutes of agony

Aynath Crescent11/5/2018, 11:19:02 AM11 votes

I report AFK people only in ranked because this is a competitive mode, when you enter the queue and launch a game, you agree to play until the end of the game, and by the end of the game, I mean :

  • When one team kills the other team's Nexus
  • When everyone agrees to surrender before 20 minutes (FF 15)
  • When at least 4 persons on your team agree to surrender

I think it's a part of the summoner's code (to be confirmed), so when you don't follow the code, you are eligible for a ban. Simple.

Same goes for those who want surrender and stay at base : "It's over, FF, why defending ? XD", well, because the game still goes on so I keep playing; you refuse to play ? Then you are eligible for a ban too.

Mentality in ranked is no longer what I used to know; Riot has it's part of the blame too.

Riot is balancing LoL as a fighting game despite it being build as a strategy game.

SomeRandomName11/5/2018, 4:55:42 AM8 votes

If someone leaves the game, allow me to leave without penalty. If a ff vote gets 3 yes votes (a majority) end the game. Allow ff votes at any point in the game (IE: before 15 mins). Less toxic waste of time games the better.

VonToothskie11/5/2018, 8:36:51 AM7 votes

I won a 4 vs 5 the other day. I've also won while the other team had a 20 kill lead. Hell I've won while arguing in chat that it was still possible to win with a team mate who was AFKing for half the game crying that it wasnt possible for us to do it. all that is this season

Teams lose against snowballs because they refuse to adapt, and they make the same mistakes 3 repeatedly.

  1. Don't wander around jungle doing irrelevant tasks instead of farming until a fed champ finds you and kills you. this is dumb. if you're behind, NEVER GO IN THE JUNGLE FOR ANY REASON. you need to farm. If you get dragon buff but your whole team dies getting it, then no one is buffed because you're all dead. trading buffs for deaths is an automatic loss. its how so many games go south and its completely avoidable. if they are fed, try to get fed yourself. you may still fail but at least you are trying

  2. Don't fight from positions of weakness. don't fight the fed Yasuo alone if you're playing Aurelion. switch lanes with a teammate, or play defense while someone backdoors. don't fight while outnumbered or low health. thing is you rarely HAVE to enter combat or close with someone until they are in your base, so dont let the opponent choose when to fight if you dont have to. At level 18 and full build theres no such thing as fed, so aim for that. most carries drop off late game too, so chances are you can genuinely turn it around

  3. Don't be predictable. if the behind team isn't interested in off meta plays or adapting to the circumstances, it will lose. I've seen way to many people insist that they "cant" build a different item set or that they cant do a weird play because, essentially, the internet didn't tell them it would work and they cant think for themselves. after all the crystal is the only objective that matters, so protect yours and kill theirs and you win. How you do it doesnt matter. Is your sweet attack speed build failing because theyre stun locking you? buy banshees or whatever. people chase KDA or obsess over dragon, but it straight doesn't matter if youre not getting objectives on your path to the tower. You need to destroy 5 towers in one lane to win, so dont wory about the other 6, etc

Point is when you click to play the game, you agree to play the game. its a social contract. You agree to follow certain rules, which include trying to win and playing till the end. so do it or get reported

I haven't blamed afkers for a couple of seasons now.

One day I was having a pretty bad game, then all of a sudden my internet goes out. Eventually (long after the game is over). I get a warning for leaving the game because apparently Riot thinks I was intentionally quitting instead of my internet dropping out. Fuck you Riot, learn to make your system know the difference between connections dropping out and actual quitters. It would make things a lot more fair. I never quit games on purpose.

This game is legit trash ATM. Riot cannot balance damage, runes, matchmaking, nothing.... They only balance for LCS ... THAT'S IT. Even reworks are created for LCS pro players to have more outplays in the game to increase viewership. Only money matters to Riot. The only way to change anything is to stop spending money on the game.

Pika Fox11/5/2018, 2:51:45 PM3 votes

I can. Ban them. You queued for a game, you play it. Unless you have a real life emergency or rl shit happens, you play it.

SpaghettiVase11/5/2018, 6:15:00 AM3 votes

I would say that's true but I've also seeing people afk after they feed and intentionally play worse than they could, like not taking a Oracle lens against a teemo, not warding, not building resistances and rushing straight damage, diving 1v3. These things can all be prevented, it's not your team's fault they won't surrender the easily winnable game, you just gotta pull your head out of your ass.

hotarse11/5/2018, 5:10:40 PM3 votes

A F K, A F K from the game You'll never be the same A F K, A F K from the game let them know the game's lame It don't mean that you're tame You're just fed up And we're all the same We're all fed up of this game Screw Riot Game It's such a shame They've totally lost the frame And want to buff yasuo again.

WoodenCreature11/5/2018, 7:55:33 AM3 votes

I blame Riot for people afking. They literally don't get punished at all. I have a friend that afks at least 1 game a day because if the game goes to shit early game u can either ff or afk. They gotta fix the surrender because u can be caught fucking hostage most of time. Ppl don't care if a comeback is possible or not they simply do not ff because they know u feel bad so they drag u in a lost game to make u feel worse.

Nyarlathοtep11/5/2018, 8:34:24 AM3 votes

Wow there buddy. Thats a risky statement. Prepare for the barrage of downvotes.

Inkling Commando11/5/2018, 9:03:57 AM2 votes

would rather have an afk'er than a ff'er.

Janakin11/5/2018, 8:58:00 AM2 votes

This isn't true anymore. With the shutdown changes and solo gold rewards, way more games can be turned around.

Thunderneedle11/5/2018, 9:14:13 AM2 votes

Riot did this on purpose. Watch Jatt during world final preshow. He was praising the short 26 minute games. Saying those were more entertaining etc. Best meta blablabla.

But definitely not when playing

Step Sis Lux11/5/2018, 12:50:42 PM2 votes

This game turned on into some stupid shit. Like 2 days ago i went afk first time in my life (obviously in normal draft) because my jungler/adc/top were 1/5 in 10 min and noone wanted to ff.

Evil Shawn11/5/2018, 12:52:49 PM2 votes

yeah, I don't understand wanting to have snowball as a thing. Why give a 'first blood' reward and also 'first tower' reward? You got the first kill, you get to stay in lane or whatever. You are already at an advantage from getting the first blood, why does the enemy deserved to be punished even more by you getting extra gold? I also hate how incentivized lvl 1 raiding is now. Its like, why do they want that to even be a possibility. Just let the game start smooth and easy for everyone.

PaffWasTaken11/5/2018, 3:13:26 PM2 votes

People can say what they want: a game where the opponent has MORE than double of your team's kills is a game that should be surrendered, winnable or not. At this point, its not even worth trying even if at the end, you can still scale, people who refuse to surrender are just keeping you hostage

LetMeCarry198311/6/2018, 6:04:33 AM2 votes

Yea, I've recently started afking in one-sided hardstomps too. There's just no point in trying when the score line is like 22-2 in the enemy's favor. There's literally and absolutely nothing you can do when a game has reached that point. you just die over and over and over again. You can't farm, you can't contest objectives, you can't do anything. It always amazes me that people will still refuse to surrender even when they are dying every 30 seconds non-stop for 20 minutes straight.

Norglich11/5/2018, 7:35:01 AM1 votes

just report everybody

IG Ziko11/5/2018, 6:09:22 PM1 votes

U r a good example of a selfish disgusting player. The player who wants to surrender even if all his team r doing well if he dies 3 times in lane and the player who doesn't want to surrender with 4 feeding players just because he has 3 or 4 kills and having some fun.

Riot should change that stupid leave buster increased queue time. They should apply account suspention or even perma ban to players who repetitively AFK/DC so kids who don't want to even try stick to normals.

KirbyCake11/5/2018, 8:48:46 PM1 votes

Being toxic at an inter for 1 game - chat restriction. Leaving multiple games in a row, no penalty. Next time you have an inter, just leave the game like dekar. Now I see why he left the game.

bagoosh11/6/2018, 8:05:19 PM1 votes

You know there is something funny about a gaming community complaning about wasting time.

Hitsuga11/5/2018, 1:58:55 PM1 votes

I always try to do my best, if the game doesn't go well try to surrender, but afk is definitely not the answer. If the other team is that snowballed the game shouldn't take that much longer. Giving up because you decided it was over just ruin the experience of everyone including the afker because that person should feel shitty about what he did.
