So...how many more times do we need to see Thresh in LCS before we finally nerf him?

Cloud273··9 votes·447 views

At the end of all these games, everyone always talks about Thresh making these "big plays". Hmm...a champion with an 1100 range hook (longer than blitzcrank pull btw) and a bugged hitbox on 'q' is making plays. Who would've thought? He also has the most loaded kit among supports, so he offers a ton of utility as well. TLDR Thresh is broken.

No, Thresh isn't broken. The LCS is not the standard for what requires a nerf. Thresh requires a high amount of skill to succeed and is actually a easily exploitable weakness in the lower elos. I've beaten more Thresh players than have beaten me. So no, Thresh does not need a nerf.

The safest and most loaded support in the game takes skill. Good joke. BTW it's not just LCS where he's doing well. According to champion.gg his winrate is very high, considering his play rate is also very high.

The safest support champion is Janna, proving you know little about supports. So this debate is meaningless.

Thresh is just as safe, if not moreso than Janna.

Last time I checked, Janna cannot engage at 1100 range. Yes she has a lot of cc and mobility to help her escape if things go bad, but she cannot engage nearly as safely as Thresh can. She also can't pull her allies to safety like Thresh can.

she has a aoe ult that heals and knocks back/displaces enemies

she has a shield that gives bonus ad when used.

she has a slow on W

she has her Q which is a displanment

while having not to be in front line... playing from a safe position...

thresh Q is a skill shot which can be blocked... its slow and telegraphed unlike a blitz hook that is instant thresh just got his base hp nerfed, he has the lowest base armor in game PERIOD.. and he is consider a front line "tank" his E is a skill shot

his recommended item RELIC SHIELD he cant proc the execute due to his autos being coded as "range"

Janna has a win rate 54.97% for Diamond+ players whilst the very best Janna's are earning a win rate of 59.82% with the average rank of these top players being in Diamond II.

LoLalytics ranks Janna at 1 amongst all champions earning a tier grade of Challenger.

This ranking takes into account the win rate of Diamond+ players, the pick/ban influence of Janna, the win rate and average rank of the best Janna players.

Thresh has a win rate 51.03% for Diamond+ players whilst the very best Thresh's are earning a win rate of 58.10% with the average rank of these top players being in Diamond I.

LoLalytics ranks Thresh at 4 amongst all champions earning a tier grade of Challenger.

janna has a win rate 3% higher then thresh in diamond elo

Why are you comparing an apple to an orange? They're completely different champs.

you said thresh is safer then janna

you said thresh is clearly OP and needs nerfs

i proved that janna is jsut as safe... provides tons of utlity as thresh while being a simpler champ in terms of skill and which she still has a higher grade and win % in diamond elo

You are right, Thresh is safer than Janna, at least in laning phase. This champion is just a zoning terror. If you could put a circle on the minimap with the range of his lantern & hook, people would understand how strong he is, since he can precisely safe anyone in that area. Tbh, most of Thresh players use 50% of the champ power and are still doing extremely well.

I thought the safest support would be someone like janna or soraka, with thresh if you dont win lane it kinda feels like you're not relevant, to me anyway idk about you guys flashes mastery 7

I think it's the fact that Thresh has like 4-5 champions kits lodged into one champion kit.

Obviously this is an overstatement but the dude has like, way too fucking much in his kit. Just crowds the support niche system.

Give me reasons why thresh is broken in something like a this: 1. X is too hard to dodge 2.Cd too short

Funkin Dunkin2 votes

Well I would agree giving him his cooldown reset on a landed Q is a little too much. Imagine if Leona E reset 6s or blitz Q reset for hitting a skill they should be hitting anyway. Even his Q alone is a good amount of suppression so yea, I would argue that it's too low. Other than that that is the only beef I have.

Chibi Bronzlife2 votes

It's not a reset, it lowers his cd by like 3 seconds. Also, try dodging the hooks it's not too hard.

Thresh is one of the most well rounded supports, yes. However, does he need a nerf? No.

Thresh is a play maker with a lot of skill ceiling. His mistakes can cost him heavily and he is fairly weak early on. His abilities can be dodge easier than some and if someone does land a hook, then it is often due to skill rather than a broken kit.

he gets nerfed and he is just going to be replaced by another hook champ, aka Nautilus or Blitzcrank. hook supports are all they play in LCS cuz its broken.

I'd be perfectly fine with that since they can't engage from 1100 range like Thresh can. Also, those champs are punished if they hit the wrong target. If Nautilus or Blitzcrank hit the tank, it's not going to be fun for them. If Thresh hits the tank, he just doesn't pull himself to them, so no big deal. Also, it's slightly easier to punish Blitzcrank than Thresh, since he's now slowed after using his 'w'.
