Sometimes I wonder what actually keeps me playing
This isn't really a QQ thread about the current meta or anything, but I do wonder why I actually keep playing sometimes.
Part of me wants to believe that I keep playing because I enjoy the game. However, every time I do play it tend to be me uttering "that was bullshit" under my breath the entire match. Even things that are considered fair make the game feel unenjoyable anymore. Eat a full Veig combo and get 100-0'd? "That was bullshit". Get run down and destroyed by a full tank Maokai? "That was bullshit". Enemy thats about to die hits the blast cone and launches themselves to safety? "That was bullshit". It's not even a matter of if these things are actually fair or not anymore
I'm honestly not sure if I play because I like the game or if it's because it's more of a constant addiction at this point. Maybe it's my stubbornness that makes me refuse to let go of the countless hours and dollars I've put into the game. Or maybe its because of all those hours that I've grown tired of the game. How long can you play the same game before it stagnates on you?
I've only been playing since Season 3 but thats long enough to see practically every conceivable meta. I've been through ADC metas, Mage metas, Tank metas, Assassin metas, and also Bruiser/Juggy metas. I've been through metas where games regularly got stalled out to 60 minutes when everyone had full 6 item builds. I've seen the Jungle fluctuate back and forth between laughably weak to oppressively strong a few times now. I've seen snowball metas and also afk farm metas.
What can keep me drawn to the game if I've already seen it all?
The funny part about this is that the community always despises whatever meta it happens to be. People complain about the snowball meta now, but I know damn well people were disgusted by the late game meta as well. I've seen quite a few class updates and people neglect to realize it takes a few months of balance changes to get them to a reasonable spot. Instead we just cry "There has not been a single class update that fixed more problems than it created". When will people realize that its not going to be all fine and dandy on the day of the changes? How many times does it need to happen before people realize it takes additional time? Same goes to every single preseason update. I can't say I would want to be in Riot's shoes.
Well this is more of a rant than anything. Just some things I wanted to get off my chest. Take it or leave it.
