so, whats actually the reason not to make an afk take the lp loss for the entire team?

when one guy is clearly responsible for the loss of his team, why isnt he punished appropriately?

and i dont care about people with unstable internet connections. they shouldnt be quing up for games in the first place.

It makes sense.

I would 100% support it.

Anyone who AFKs has in 99% of cases doomed his team to certain defeat; he ought to pay the full price for his actions.

It is no one else's fault that they lost. Literally.

Aside from the fact that the Client is pretty bad at times. Ive seen people who get bugsplat, or are unable to come back into a game for unknown reasons. It needs to accurate that said person actually left the game and not an accident. or else loads of people could get punished that wasnt even their fault. Hopefully with this new client this might solve this problem. But i still see people who get bugsplat errors and still use the new client!

If we are going to punish players based off of them being - "clearly responsible for the loss of his team", then why wouldn't that same standard apply to feeders?

because theyre harder to spot out. its an entirely different issue. just by having a program check someones k.d.a. you dont know what happened. if hes been having a bad game or actually intentionally fed.

these cases have to be reviewed and individually judged. when someone has left the game for a certain period of time, hes already being marked by the system as "afk". its not even a decision to make, but a process that is already automated.

it wouldnt be a large step from there to make him take the lp loss for the team.

if its just a dc it would hurt, but it should happen incredibly rarely. if someones is dcing on a regular basis, well. hes entering ranked games fully knowing that his connection is shit and he might cause a loss for his team. so he should take responsibility when it happens.

The best reason I can see not to do this is because it is possible to win 4v5. So may I make a counter proposal that LP loss for afk player remains as normal, but the other members lose only half the normal amount?

Of course, then the problem becomes making it so this system can't be somehow abused.

maybe 1 out of a 100 games.

and in that case the afk should be awarded 0 lp and his winnings should go to the rest of his team aswell.

I think the "not getting anything" part is how it already works. I'm indifferent on splitting what he would earn among the other players, however. on one hand that can screw up the way their ranking system works, on the other hand they did work harder for the victory.

and I'd like to draw attention to the second part of my original comment. Erockandroll provided an excellent example of how such a system could be abused, simply through increasing the amount of flame present in the average ranked game.

The behavioral team would veto it, as it would create a toxic environment where one player get's bullied until they quit, so that the rest of the team get's off scott free. (Not exact words, but Riot did say something like this)

And I don't care if you don't care, But Riot isn't going to give someone with internet problems, the XP loss for 5 people.

Also considering your chances of having an AFK on the enemy side is equal and opposite, Riot probably won't regard it as affecting ranked integrity. (At least compared to giving 4 others a free pass, while 1 persons rank is completely trashed)

The actual reason is that it would encourage toxicity towards a player who is having a bad game, trying to encourage/force them to leave so that the rest of the team won't lose LP for their loss.

Additionally, it could be an abuse point for duo queuers.
