New ranked thoughts: what about role swapping mid-champ select?

I'm actually sold for having a new tier around diamond and bronze/silver, because a lot of us already know that the skill difference from D4-D1 are actually more widespread than from all of bronze to diamond 5. And shrinking the number of divisions from 5 to 4, Jhin approves. Jhin New rewards for getting placed into a certain rank at the end, and three times a year instead of one? Hopefully that's something.

However, the one thing that more people are concerned with: different ranks based on position. I'm your typical loser support main that actually ints in every other role, so I think that's a great idea on a personal standpoint. It's one of those things that sounds great on paper, but can turn to shit upon execution.

Now the main question: what happens if people grab duos just to queue up into their "weak roles", trade roles during champ select, and "boost" each other from there?

For example, I am your typical garbage support main that can play support at a gold level, but bronze everything else. I have a friend who plays ADC botlane at a gold level, but is bronze at supporting. Now the friend and I gather to duo, where he queues up as support, and I would queue up as ADC. During champ select, we will just easily swap roles, and play in our respective roles. In the end, both of us would get gold in both ADC and support.

Your "rank based on role" is not reflective or representative to your skill level. Wouldn't that count as "boosting", and that the new system would encourage it?

I think it would lean more towards "smurfing".
