most likely because he WAS a mid lane mage , and people abused him for support role?? if you want to play malzahar as support , you will get a your new reworked malzahar . deal with it

Bro... Malzahar prior to the rework was pretty much never played in worlds or pro play in general other than in that 1v1 aram shit

After the rework, the shield made him capable of being safe to play in pro play mid

HOWEVER

They nerfed his Voidlings to the point where he had to get damage from somewhere else (The ADC)

Which is why they started playing him support

So yes it was AFTER the rework
