Darius is one of the rare champs in league who can build full tank and still wreck almost literally everybody he gets his hands on. Every other fighter/bruiser in the game will usually need at least one dedicated damage item to be so much as relevant any point after the mid game.

High base damage + Bad scaling = No reason to build damage

No reason to build damage + Needs to be in the front line to deal damage = Just build tank...

Also, Jayce, Talon and Zed are all considered Fighters

And in return he has a magic damage dot that deals a good bit of damage, also grants him bonus move speed. Built in armor pen and a pull. Not to mention a true damage ult that can be recast up to five times if used properly. Darius may could use some tuning, but I'd hardly say he suffers from lack of anything in his kit.

What he lacks in other typical fighter stats, he makes up for it with damage and being insanely hard to itemize against due to having all types of damage reliably in his kit and very high base damages.

He doesn't even need a damage item to do good. If insanely ahead go for it and punish them super hard for even trying to fight you. Late game he falls off in teamfights due to being kited to death, but he is a decent splitpusher due to being able to outduel 90% of other champions 1v1. If they send more then one to deal with you, Your team wins elsewhere.
