MORE BANS FOR RANKED

Before players queue up, they select a ban preference.

Accept queue --> 10 champions each team banned already (maybe fewer because of how people ban the same champions) Ban phase begins --> 5 champions each side gone

Literally adds no time except for the reveals of banned champions.

Now we need a few justifications on why there should be more bans? -HUGE champion pool, very hard to balance the game. Why deal with SEJ GALIO JANNA LULU SORAKA TRISTANA TWITCH CHO ? That's already 8 bans ...

We haven't even touched the top winrates by role yet.

-Whacky team comps Everyone agrees, and complains about how worlds is boring, we see the same champions over and over Ryze mid anyone? Trist Janna oh dang, what a surprise they won lane and the game. Anyone tired of tank meta yet? Every game is centered around the ADC? This is only high level play/pro play btw, we havent touched low level play.

In low level play your ADC losing is literally losing the game, that random pug that got slapped together loses because your ADC is a boosted animal.

I think it should be more like a team-alternating 3 bans -> 3 picks -> 4 bans -> 4 picks -> 3 bans -> 3 picks, or maybe something slightly simpler. I do think champ select should be longer for sure. I think Riot missed the mark when deciding to make the bans at once, only because it removes strategic plays (banning counterpicks). It works fine, but I'd love to see a different ban system.

The reason they didn't do that is because of how long the old system took to get into the actual game. I love the current ban system where your team bans at once.

Alternating bans was stupid and really did take too much time.

Maybe 20 bans is TOO MUCH? How about 15 and we all be happy :P (which is pretty much what will happen when both teams have 10 bans)

A vast majority of the bans will be duplicates anyways.

I think banning before the game leads to a strategic loss tbh. Because if you pre-ban yas, what if the rest of your team also pre-banned yas? Then do you get to see the other side of the bans? or can you ban in champ select the same bans that were pre-banned on the other side?

We don't need more bans. Riot was fair with banning 10 per game. Do you even know how many champions you'd need to own to start ranked with this system? 30. 30 champs before you can start playing. If you prebanned 10 and then banned an additional 10. That'd be insane! This honestly just won't work.

Edit: Not to mention, what would really suck is if you mained a currently banned champion (like say... soraka or lulu) that isn't necessarily a ban that EVERYONE does, but you automatically don't get to play her because you matched with someone that pre-banned the champ. That's why you get to hover the champs you want in champ select, so that you can let your team know "hey I want to play soraka, please don't ban her". You know?

Thanks for bringing up the 30 champion limit, I'd say it should be even more than 50% of the champions owned.

We really don't need smurphs in league of legends, nor do we need players hopping in ranked when they clearly aren't ready.

Ranked isn't about maining a champion, it should always be about teamwork. The only reason they main soraka or lulu would be because they're too strong right now. There are plenty of other modes to play if you want to be a one trick lulu soraka when they're clearly breaking the game.

A player should master a lane, not one single champion

And if they can't keep up, then they'll land in the rank they deserve.

????????? Maining a champion allows you to feel comfortable providing things for your team. Not every persons main is because they are currently meta. I mained Orianna for a long time, because of this, I was SUPER comfortable on her and what I could do with her, so I was willing to roam, split push, steal objectives and teamfight with confidence. However, place me on Zed and you won't get ANY of those things. Not a single fucking one. Because I don't know how to play Zed well, I'm not confident with him. My lane falls apart, despite me knowing exactly what I'm SUPPOSED to do as a midlaner. I'm unable to execute it. So I should be punished for being very comfortable on a single champion because you want extra bans because YOU aren't mastering your lane enough to play against champions that aren't banned? A little hypocritical. I can play Orianna into ANY matchup. I might not win hard, but I will always at least go even or keep up enough to make it to a powerspike. I consider that mastering a lane (although champion specific). I can do this on a few champions. But sometimes I just am in the mood to play one specific champ. And going into a game that has her prebanned would piss me the fuck off. You aren't even giving me the OPTION to say "no wait guys I'm really good on this champion and I'd be a great asset to the team if I was allowed to play her". Instead you're going "nope do something else because I never want to face her because I can't man up and play against her, she's op". Like okay dude. Give your arguments a little more thought.
