Just curious... why does Cleanse not release you from Malazhar's ult?

Bent Pixels··2 votes·1,177 views

QSS and Mercurial Scimitar both can do it, but you can't build that on AP champs (Okay, well you can, but it provides little to no benefit, aside from some MR and the QSS active).

Why does Cleanse, the only counter to Malzahar's ult as an AP champion, not release you from his CC? I personally think that It should, but there could be a legitimate reason as to why it's like this I just don't know about it.

Thanks

  1. Cleanse doesn't remove Suppression.

  2. If Cleanse were to be able to remove Suppression, Malzahar will become an absolutely shitty pick in Draft Matches.

I know it doesnt remove Suppression, along with being Airborne, but why does it not? Malzahar's CC is pretty over the top regardless, and it forces the opponent to take cleanse rather than something like teleport or ignite.

To avoid it being an ultimate pick/answer to every CC in the game. Certain counter to CCs like Malzahar's ult needs to come at a cost.

You literally stated that you knew his ult doesn't remove Suppression....

I dont understand. Can you elaborate on the second part?

I meant that I know CLEANSE doesn't remove suppression along with being airborne, if that's where it was confused. Im just wondering why it doesn't remove those specific "crowd controls"

The only other CC that's not his ultimate is just his Q silence, so I'm not convinced that he's a heavy CC champion.

Suppression disallows the usage of Summoner Spells, including Cleanse, unlike Silence or Stuns that still allow you to use them.

So if we're on the topic of what is and isn't allowed under Suppression, why can Tryndramere basically say "FUCK YOU" to every type of CC and slam his ult, even under Suppression when he shouldn't be able to do anything? The rules and consistency for what is and isn't allowed to function in regards to Suppression should be all or nothing, not pick and choose which powerful functions can bypass it. A summoner spell like Cleanse, which is on a heaping cooldown, is supposed to be strong, as most summoner spells are, so it should grant some escapes from powerful CC like Suppression, especially when a Tryndamere ult on a much shorter CD is able to frequently bypass it for no apparent reason except to allow Tryndamere to be a constant irritation.

Because Tryndamere's ult is functioned & programmed to be used during any kinds of CC, which is a special case for him. Cleanse isn't the problem.

CC is supposed to be a counter for a character like Tryndamere, so it doesn't make sense why it's fair to allow him to bypass that, while not allowing Cleanse (which you're using by giving up power from like Exhaust/Ignite), which is also on a much longer CD, to shut off Suppression. After all, other summoners like Flash, Barrier, Heal, etc give champions advantages that can invalidate other champions or their ults, so why should Cleanse somehow be held to a higher standard?

He knows, he just saying if it removed suppression, it would force the enemy to give up another important summoner spell. It's not a end all for Malzahar, his ult is on a way shorter CD than cleanse is.

You mean his cc where he roots himself?

Yeah but like malzahar is kinda a shitty champ because his entire kit is balanced around his op ultimate which means he has no budget in his summoning void coolness and instead waits 2 minutes to press r

because if that was the case there would be matches where he literally cant ult anyone at any point without it just being canceled every time

Remember when Summoner Spells were SUMMONER SPELLS and you could use them even when your champion was CC'd?

I don't, but just thought I'd mention that lol
