@Riot - If the point of Warwick's rework was to make him viable and easy to learn...

I've been playing Warwick on the PBE, and he's viable, but he's not particularly what I'd call a starter champ. He's a bit too complex to be that. He's got way too many secondary effects and bells and whistles to be even remotely simple. Ivern has a simpler kit than Warwick, just saying; all of his abilities are self explanatory and one button press always does one thing.

For Warwick, Q is tricky, and the whole lunge aspect of it is clunky, in the same sense that Taliyah's old W was. It's super awkward to hold the button and lunge, and I've been having difficulty executing it. This is not a problem that should exist on what is supposed to be a simple, "baby's first jungler" champion.

W is fine for what it does, but I have some issues. For starters, there's a TON of UI clutter when the Blood Scent passive goes off. It's one thing to have like 5 different blood trails going out at once, it's another thing entirely to have that jagged red effect covering most of the screen, and it comes off as overwhelming and can cause you to miss things at the edge of your vision. Additionally, W doesn't do what it says it does when you activate it. The passive first of all sets the stage by stating that it's global. The active states that it briefly senses all champions, and then you get a blood scent of the nearest champ, regardless of HP. This is a lie. I was in the base, and I cast W, and there was no blood scent, despite what the words were telling me. If there is a range limit to the activated portion of W, please indicate such, and don't mislead it as being global like the passive.

E is pretty much fine as it is, I like it.

R is where things get awkward. First of all, the wording is just complicated and needs to be rewritten. "Warwick leaps 2.5 seconds worth of movement speed in a direction, suppressing the first champion he collides with for 1.5 seconds" This is overly complicated and is not a valid measure of distance for players who can't do fluid algebra in the middle of a game. 2.5 Seconds of movement? Really? And how do we know how fast we go in 2.5 seconds, and then how do we apply that to leap distance? This desperately needs to be simplified for clarity's sake. For instance, write it like this, I'm sure you have people that can work out the math for you so that it comes out the same: "Warwick leaps 100(+30% Move Speed) units in a direction, suppressing the first champion he collides with for 1.5 seconds" I had several issues with executing this ability as well, as the leap mechanic is a bit clumsy and it's difficult to gauge how far he can go or if you're going to just waste the ult trying to leap over a small wall. Furthermore, there is absolutely no mention that this ability is channeled. None whatsoever. This is a problem, and again, needs to be clarified for new players. I started inputting movement commands after I leaped at an enemy, and the whole Suppression canceled. If I'm using my dodgy ult to leap at an enemy, I want to suppress them without accidentally canceling it and putting it back on a long as hell cooldown. It's fine for champions like Miss Fortune, who are at a range, but for Warwick, it makes him more complicated and problematic if you end up blowing one of your best CCs because you input a move command and then you're stuck in the face of an enemy who will blast you for messing up. It wouldn't break him to make him Suppress the enemy without it being a channeled ability, especially since the ability can be intercepted.

Overall, Warwick plays decently, but again, I cannot stress enough that his kit is too complicated to call him a starter champion anymore. He's not the starter jungler, because he's got too much stuff and it's just a busy kit. Yi is a prime example of what Warwick should be - he's simple, one button does one action, and he's pretty straightforward. Warwick is overly complicated and way too nuanced and requires a lot of learning to master. So in this sense, you failed to remake him as a simple starter champ, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he's bad on the whole.

It's supposed to be easy to pick up and learn, but mastering him takes some time.

I think he still fits as a started champion. Blood Hunt encourages you to unlock your camera and look around the map. His ult is an instantaneous skillshot, so there's not much room for error and it teaches you basically how to aim and hit a skillshot. His Q is really simple up front, and once you use it for a while, you can get used to the nuances of leaping across your foe. That's a good way to introduce abilities that have more than one effect depending on how you use it.

Thing is, I don't think he's easy to pick up and learn. The paragraphs of text and duality to all but his ultimate, and the extreme ease of botching his ultimate make him more complicated than someone like Ashe, Garen, Amumu, Master Yi, Annie, or even Poppy. All of these champions have straightforward kits. Warwick's new kit is a bit overwhelming and a little clunky for a newcomer. I've had an easier time picking up and learning kits like Shyvana, Hecarim, Evelynn, and Zac, and they're supposed to be more advanced junglers. Warwick's new kit just isn't simple or easy. It's on par with jungler like Kha'zix, Nidalee, Elise, or Rengar.

The idea with a player's first jungler is to simply learn how to jungle. You are talking about elements that a player really isn't going to be able to handle while learning the basics of jungling. Also the new ult being a skillshot drastically increases the difficulty of the champ. I don't understand why so many people are missing that fact.

Volibear, as an example, fits the description of baby's first jungler much better now. No skillshots, tanky, no special mechanics, and with a super reliable ult that requires no real skill to use properly. By comparison, Warwick is more of an intermediate jungler at this point. Not hard to play, but far from the easiest.

They wanted to make Warwick have a lower skill floor (The skill required to begin playing a champion), rather than have a super high skill ceiling (The skill required to master a champion).

The "Starter Champion" Theory is changing because the default skill floors and ceilings for multiple champions now are being raised 'slightly' since so many reworks are occurring and have more complex(not really) abilities (Both Passives and Actives to keep track of).

In the long run when alot of champions get their reworks, it will be noticeable of which champions are most faceroll (lowest possible skill floor)

Don't just downvote without reason. I don't play Jungle. If I have difficulty picking up the new Warwick and learning the jungle, then he's no longer an easy to learn starter champion, it's that simple. That's the entire point of the starter champs - pick them, use them, easily learn a kit and the role. This Warwick is not easy to learn.

He's actually pretty dang easy..... It's just like annie. Easy to learn, but hard to learn WELL.

Lvl 6 on annie lvl 5 on ww, u can't master annie cuz there is nothing to master, the skills are simple and if you have a little bit brain, she is easier than ammumu for eg, the only one i can think of who is easier to play is garen. And warwick... well... nothing to master either.... learn his skills learn how to jg and nothing to rly master. You can master Zed riven with animation cancelling and autos between skills or lee sin.... GUYS PLEASE LEARN HOW TO PLAY AND ACTUALLY PLAY A FEW CHAMPS BEFORE WRITING SHIT LIKE THIS

It definitely appears to me that he is nowhere close to being the easiest or simplest jungler anymore. Riot's kidding themselves on that front. Volibear, Amumu, and Sejuani are all simpler and easier, just to name a few. It does look like a good rework, but they totally failed if their intention was to keep him as noob-friendly as before.

Still seems somewhat simple to me if you just read.

Everything you say makes 0 sense and i bet ur like lvl 10 or 12 bcoz ww is one of the easiest champs, you can call him a noob champ, for eg. you say that if u accidently input a movement command u cancel ur surpression.... why would u do that? If ur ability is channeling why do u move? It should be obvious. And even if u do, after 1 ot 2 times someone will figure it out, like with his w, and btw its not global, by upgrading it the range increases... your post was the dumbest i've ever seen... I'm lvl 51 now 52 soon and i started playing ww at lvl 11 i think and he was ez back then and im lvl 5 on him now

Did you just respond to a year old post (about Warwick on the PBE) as if it was still the same and relevant situation as what is in the game today?

nothing did change since then so yeah?
