Warmog's Armor Replacement for ARAM

Warmogs armor was both healthy and unhealthy in ARAM. It allowed melee champions to endure poke and heal back to full health after teamfights. However it was abused by champions like Soraka and ranged poke champions, thus leading to its removal. I've brainstormed a replacement item with 3 possible effects more tailored to ARAM. These effects are only available to melee champions and has an HP threshold to prevent it from being a rush item.

Wardog's Armor:

item 1011 + item 3067 + item 3801 + 250G = 2800 Gold Total Cost

800 Health 10% CDR +100% Base Health Regeneration. Passive 1 OR Passive 2 OR Active 1

Passive 1:

Unique Passive: (Melee Only, Requires a minimum of 2750 HP to activate) For every 1% Health missing, your health regeneration is increased by 10%, this effect is interrupted by combat with enemy champions.

Assuming 20 HP/5 at level 18, a champion at 1% Health would have 396 HP/5 (20 base * 2 (100% base regen increase), * .99 * 10) At 50% Health, they would have 200 HP/5 At 75% Health, they would have 100 HP/5

To summarize, this passive would make champions heal a fair amount while at low health, but would take considerably longer to heal to full health compared to Warmog's. Additionally this passive is the most similar to Warmog's passive compared to the other 2 effects.

Passive 2:

Unique Passive: (Melee Only, Requires a minimum of 2750 HP to activate) When you score a takedown against an enemy champion, you regenerate 20% of your missing health over 5 seconds.

This is essentially Overlord's Bloodmail, with a stronger passive. It rewards melee champions for successfully engaging enemy champions, rather than being a band-aid for being low health outside of combat.

Active 1:

Unique Active: (Melee Only. Requires a minimum of 2750 HP to activate. Cannot activate during combat) For 10 seconds, your champion channels to regenerate 10% of your maximum health every second. This effect is interrupted upon entering combat, moving your champion or using an ability and the active goes on cooldown (cooldown reduced by 50% if interrupted by movement during the 1st second.) 90 second cooldown.

This active is much more situational than the passives, but offers much stronger regeneration comparatively. It doesn't help much against poke because of the modest cooldown, but is extremely effective for healing after a teamfight in a safe position. It cannot be used during any combat in order to prevent it being used to tank super minions / towers.

I like these concepts, especially passive 2 and 3. I do hope ARAM gets an equivalent of item 3083 back, and these versions sound like they'd be great replacements.

Just make it so you can only regen 60% your HP.

That way you can survive a battle and not be completely useless if you are a tank and allows you to survive some poke.

This patch just made tanks nearly useless.

This patch just made tanks nearly useless.

They have been doing that for 8 seasons worth of patches...

They spread out sustain through faster EXP rates and AoE healthpacks that grant bigger heals based on how low your hp is.

They don't need to bring back Warmog's they did just fine with this patch.

And thematically they removed it since the name is sometimes known as the murder bridge, and with Warmog's presence there wasn't a lot of murdering.

Well, tanks are still getting murdered. Of the top 20 ARAM champs, there is still just 1 melee, and it's the same one as before the Mog's removal. Go back and look through the last 50 patches, Warmog's was never linked to high win % there. Ziggs with his crazy poke is still at 71%, and Sona with her heal spam is still at 75%.

I would like it if they brought back Winter's orb -- or whatever that item was that basically gave you a shield for 10% of your max HP or something like that if you didn't take damage for 9 seconds (it was basically Malphite's passive in a unique passive for an item). That existed I think around when ARAM officially became a thing.

That helped reduce the potency of poke without just outright gutting it in the same way Warmogs did and couldn't be abused by champions like Veigar nearly as easily. It helped stopped people getting absolutely chunked by just the odd skill shot that makes it through by either completely blocking or at least softening up the blow, but if you kept getting hit consistently it wouldn't save you and obviously just disengaging for 20 seconds wouldn't restore all of your health since at best you'd only get 10% of your max health back in the form of that shield.

Alternatively, change the relic formula from "x+2% for every 1% missing hp" to "(x+8% max hp) + 2% for every 1% missing hp".

At 3k max hp that only gives 240 bonus healing, but as you get lower it scales up just like the base heal, maxing it out at a theoretical 720 if you're at 0 hp with 3k max. That's enough to give you some solid sustain, especially after teamfights, but not enough to return tanks to being immoveable brick walls.

Remember, the stronger tanks are, the stronger adcs and supports are and the weaker mages, assassins, bruisers, and juggernauts are. I know everyone hates poke mages on Aram, but personally I find supports way more obnoxious.

I personally love the concept of the Active.

I like your Ideas for the replacement, what do you think about this as a passive: minions drop essence, when you collect essence you heal 8% of your max health (or missing health)

This gives decent healing that can be contested by the enemies (similar to lifestealing of of minions, but for tanks)
