Illaoi could do with a minor power shift

atm i think she is too reliant/has too much power riding on whether or not she lands her E, which I think is unreasonable for a champion who is already extremely exploitable due to their very slow animations on all their abilities. i don't know if i can even call it 'binary;' she WILL lose every fight if she doesn't land her E, but hitting it won't guarantee her victory unless she's already amassed a giant lead over the enemy. the rest of her kit is fine and healthy, but the power wrapped into her E makes her feel very pubstomp-y, and very frustrating for lower ranked players. It also contributes to her utterly abysmal late game for a champion who has a relatively small time period in the mid game to make an impact.

at the same time E just does so much it's hard to justify buffing other stuff. you get reduced-risk echo damage on the enemy (a LOT of damage late game) with the potential to hit spirit and champion for massive damage, the vessel debuff and the incredible zoning power that comes with it, true sight while the spirit's up, and landing E means you'll get free hits with your ult because they'll target the spirit/vessel. it's kind of a lot, and I think we could stand to trim it a little bit (not a lot; she's a weak champion but an otherwise healthy design) for power in another part of her kit that'll give her some desperately needed reliability.

some suggestions would include tentacle swings becoming 10/20/30% faster with each rank in ult, or trading tentacles automatically swinging on spirits (still on vessels, though) for all ult-spawned tentacles automatically swinging towards the center of her ult zone once they spawn (And we can lower the ult's base damage to compensate for higher potential damage the tentacles could be doing.)

small stuff like that. i'm sure there are better ways to allocate power into the rest of her spells. i don't mind the slow animations, i think they're part of illaoi's charm but she's very easily abused once you get to higher ranks because of how much she hinges on landing E to do anything at all.

edit: I don't need it to happen immediately but after Worlds is over, it would be nice for Illaoi to get a little recognition.

Illaoi's current strength lies simply in whether or not the enemy is stupid enough to stay near her tentacles. So I agree, she needs a small, just a tiny buff.

that too

a lot of games I do very well on Illaoi feel less like me playing well and more the enemy playing horribly

i don't mind getting to stomp people into the dirt for mistakes (that's a juggernaut trait) but I would like a little more leeway to letting me make good plays

Please fix her Tentacle hitbox first, both that is appears (I've had that bug appear to me this year... wasn't it supposed to be fixed in the year of her release?), and it's actual hitbox.

Also if you wanna buff the speed, nerf the hitbox size just a little, it's already really hard for tanks to dodge it.

It'll still be hard for tanks and less mobile champions (ranged) to dodge it with a thinner hitbox but faster speed, but it would make it less overbearing for melee skirmishers.

Also Illaoi does so much damage when she does land tentacles that if you want to make them more reliable, it'll have to result in an overall damage nerf.

A bit of armor shred on Tentacles wouldn't be bad either, since she kinda gets fucked once tanks get tanky.

I don't know why you get downvoted whenever you talk about Illaoi buffs, she's one of the fairest champions in league and yet she's complete garbage late game since she costantly gets destroyed by supports exhausting her or simply throwing cc. Just the other day I saw an Illaoi who managed to hit E, slow the adc and find a good positioning to ult 3 people. Then guess what? Instead of getting rewarded for that she got polymorphed by Lulu and exploded like a minion. Meanwhile Orianna can be oppressive as fuck during laning phase and oneshot 5 people at once from safe range, seems fair.
