Losing a game ONLY because some idiot tilts over a off meta pick is infuriating. It doesnt make sense that you focus so hard on someone elses gameplay/pick that you COMPLETELY IGNORE YOUR OWN gameplay. I just had a game where kalista and a hec were just non stop flaming me and singed from minute fucking 1 just because he picked singed in general and i picked eve mid. like the guy just literally sat in jg flaming so much that he actually died to jungle camps because he was typing, and kalista just got ran over bot lane because she was too busy looking at my screen rather than her own.

This shit needs to stop somewhere, and i think its chat. go the same route as overwatch, remove chat entirely, replace it with voice coms, and give us the option to never enter a voice channel if we dont want to. done deal. sure i can mute people in chat, but it wont stop them from actually typing and throwing

Additionally, muting and ignoring aren't the same action. I've left people un-muted before just because their salt was amusing (or, more rarely, they have some useful information later, or turn their attitude around).

I play eve mid too.

Don't say anything at all in champ select, just act like you're playing Ahri or Lux, you don't have to defend your pick if you're good with it.

If people start getting bratty, then literally say "Gg Afk" in pregame then nothing else. If people think you're an outright troll, they'll try harder just to spite you and are less likely to dodge. Don't say anything at all in the game because it will be used against you in the reports if you lose.

The worst thing you can do is try to argue and say 'but guys eve mid is fine bakgjasklgjasljnkbasj' because no one wants to hear it - they just want to prove they're right.

I'm not opposed to it. Its commonly agreed that the ping systems needs expanded on, and very little info needs to be communicated in chat, to the point that chat gets largely disregarded at higher levels of play.

My one reservation is that initial part of learning where the basics are involved. Things like "what should I build here" or "how do I do the missing ping?" would take longer to learn, and propogate some.... Unfortunate situations. They have other solutions, to be sure, but that's a hurdle I'd like to ensure is passed quickly.
