Thoughts on malzahar?

This is not so much of a rant. It's more of what the community thinks of malz as a champ and his design. For me it seems like no matter what stage of the game he's in. I always die to his ult alone.

Malzahar is a source of melancholy for me, since I absolutely LOVED playing AD Pokémon Trainer Malzahar before his rework. It was even semi-viable for a short while after his rework.

The AoE on his ult was his w, and his w was his passive

I don't know what the old malz looked like.

Also his E did 320+0.8AP over its duration (but without resets). His ult also had i think... like 450+1.2AP over its duration? He was an anti assassin, an immobile mage who assassinated people who tried to all in him alone.

I play lots of malzahar, what you can do to counter this is possibly prep for him prior to the game. If you're laning against him or think he could snowball out of control then nullifying orb can help, also you can try using resolve secondaries with resolve and chrysalis? The shield/heal summoner spell is good to stop his dps. Bursting him down after he uses this is pretty easy if the malz positions poorly. If you're using AD also consider a hexdrinker or it may be excessive but the shield on archangel staff can be useful as well if you're AP.

Also you can abuse him in the early game if you have a gap closer champ, just wait for his E to go onto a minion and dodge his Q, who are your champs you typically use in his games?
