FYI: If Junglers Out Farm You As A Laner, You Probably Aren't Ready For Ranked Yet

CS'ing is such an important thing and yet I keep getting matched with players (every game so far) that can't even keep up with the Jungler in CS. If you can't farm that well of course you (and probably even your team) are going to get stomped most games. No one deserves to be matched with a player who can only farm 25 - 40 CS in 10 minutes because the majority of the time the other player is going to have at least 60+ (and 60, we're talking bronze level here...).

Please be humble and accept that if you aren't farming well, it's something you really need to work on. Put your ranked ego on pause for a while, go into a custom game or even normal matches, and work on getting better. The ability to farm is important, maybe even the number 1 most important thing in League of Legends. You can't have items without gold, and the easiest and most reliable method of acquiring gold is farming (and not kills believe it or not). I'm not telling you to not play ranked, I'm saying to prepare yourself before you play ranked. Your team doesn't want to see you do poorly and neither do you.

Help your team by taking the time to first help yourself, it makes the game far more enjoyable for everyone in the long run.

how am I supposed to outfarm my jungler if he keeps taxing all my farm for the camp I didn't even ask for?

FYI: If you're playing the role with the most impact in the game (jungle) and spend all your time farming your jungle instead of being relevant in the lanes to the point where your laners are so starved that they have less CS than you, you probably aren't ready for ranked yet.

Yet, you are a jungler in the same elo. Maybe you are spending too much time afking in the jungle. Maybe your map awareness, ganking, and general gameplay is every bit as worse as their CS.

Idk dude every game I go into I get a Graves on my team who taxes the like he's from 18th century England and ends up farming a lane as well as the jungle simultaneously.

Then there's the rare Shyvana who farms both sides of the jungle and a lane and ends up with 300 cs at 37 minutes.

There's enough CS in a lane that the Jungler can tax a laner and they should still not have much excuses for not reaching somewhere close to 10 cs a minute. I'm no where near perfect (or even good tbh) but on a few champions I can easily farm over 10 cs a minute when I am doing fairly decently. Even in sub-optimal conditions, like being camped or just plain outplayed, countered, stomped, I can still farm somewhere around 6-7 cs a minute. 6 cs a minute in a losing match up or while being camped is still a pretty vast improvement from 2-4 cs a minute.

tl;dr: yes it sucks when Junglers tax you, there's still enough cs to farm well regardless.

Technically speaking, if a player can only farm 60 cs at 10 minutes, you could have two people farming and both have at least 60 cs, because that's how much farm existed around that time mark. Just a little food for thought.

That's not what I'm saying.

I'm saying sometimes junglers take up an entire lane and it's simply impossible to keep up with them. You're setting a standard that is rather silly and arbitrary considering the farm meta junglers that are currently plaguing it.

Weird, I've not played one game this season where any Jungler has 'took up an entire lane'. I somewhat feel like it's more that you are being a bit over the top and exaggerating.

Ya ever played with a Shyvana?

You're not going to see her fighting unless it's post-20 and she has like a 3 level lead on their team. Otherwise she just splits down one lane and eats up any nearby jungle monsters.

That's the excuse every jungle uses to farm two waves.

They dont care that puts their mid two levels down. They don't care about your lane freeze. They don't care you wanted to farm close to your tower and now you have to walk up to that Ryze/Yasuo.

You don't even know the max cs per min.

Or follow my lead and become a support main. The game is so much more fun for me now that I don't have to worry about how badly I farm

I support this post, not because it is optimal advice, or advice I would ever take, but because it will put in more Supports. Which we need.

LOL the game is meant to be fun. Playing a custom game to "practice" isn't fun.

Is it safe to say that silver players farm better than bronze players? Is it safe to say that silver players have more fun in the game than bronze players?

This is like having a ton of conditioning drills in church league basketball.....

50000000000000002 votes

Since winning is the primary goal of ranked, trying to improve is important. Fun is also important, but if you're playing for fun you should mostly play normals. (unless you're in one of those servers with disabled normal draft, bc blind pick is cancer)

Morticianjohn1 votes

Winning is the goal but in reality we're all only winning 50% of our games anyway and that doesn't really depend on how much CS you get.

Think about it this way, maybe your mid lane got less farm than you as the jungle, however, both of you are in the same division, meaning your ability to win games is the same. So either:

1.) player is boosted in which case he will continue to fall 2.) player is extremely lucky (or unlucky depending on how you look at it) 3.) player has displayed an ability to win games equivalent to your ability to win games

So instead of looking at his CS and saying he needs more practice, look at your game and realize that you are matched up with players of equal skill level as you against opponents of equal skill level and if you were better than the other 9 players you're likely to win and if you aren't then you have a 50/50 chance to win.

Sometimes you get matched with players who can't CS but are good at other aspects of the game (pushing turrets, getting picks, etc....) other times you get players who never miss a last hit but have no map awareness, don't use abilities in the right order and/or whiff on every skill shot. They are placed in your division because that is where your skill level is. If you are better than them you'll move up and see less of these types of team members.

50000000000000001 votes

I mean, just because you're bad doesn't mean your teammates aren't bad. That just means your teammates are also bad, and they could work on their CS. The jungler can probably improve on something other than CS. Probably ganking, if a jungler is outfarming laners.

Yea assuming you weren't taking their lane farm, it's pretty bad to watch. There's 120+ cs in a lane in 10 minutes, I don't understand how someone can only have 40 out of 120 cs even when struggling in lane. What's worse is most of the players who have that number of CS seem to believe that they're losing because of someone else on their team, when if they had items many plays could possibly swing the opposite direction in favor of their own team. Farm is so essential to the game.

10xDoublelift1 votes

thats why im jungle now, cs isnt my strong suit by 10 mins i should be at 80 according to my coach but im usually around 50 or 60 so i need kills are ill behind if they can cs.

in the jungle its hard af to not hit a cs standard unless you gank way too much, but then your just bad at jungle

Need Gold 4 Tent1 votes

which is why i've been experimenting with gp10 quints and seals, so that I don't feel too bad about sitting in a bush for a good 1 minute until the enemy laner drops his guard for a very good gank. then it pays off. support junglers only though.

RocketRelm1 votes

That… what are you using that gold for? Gold Quints give 6 gold per minute. Gold Seals give 1.5 gold per minute each.

AP Quints give 4.95 AP. (107.66 value) Armor Seals give 1 Armor each (20 Gold value)

You'd need to wait until 20 ish minutes to get more value out of the Gold Quints than the AP Quints, except you start the game with the AP there, and the 'value' you make afterwards isn't very high.

For the Armor Seals, two things. One, armor is very important to junglers at the start. Second, if you really wanted scaling, you'd go Scaling Seals Of Armor, which give x3 value. Meaning your Gold Seals wouldn't beat the Armor Seals until 40+ minutes into the game. Most games don't last that long, if they do you're usually at full build anyway and then these are more 'slot efficient', and scaling armor runes still give some value upfront.

Even from a greedy 'I'll scale over time' approach, Gold Seals are just strictly suboptimal.

Annie Zed Irelia Lucian Ezreal Easiest farmers. People are fine with farm. It's generally grouping mid and such they focus on kills instead of farming. then they die with death timers that could of been used for gaining farm.

50000000000000001 votes

Some more easy to CS champions Cassiopeia Darius DrMundo Fizz JarvanIV Nautilus Ryze Teemo

Morticianjohn1 votes

Fizz against most matchups can't farm well. He is melee into ranged matchup usually. He's squishy and his abilities that might allow him to farm put him in danger zone of most mid laners (he could go top or jg but I mostly see him mid).

It could just be my elo but Fizz is always one of the lowest farm champs when I see him. He does pretty well in KDA typically but farm is pretty difficult for him.

EDIT: I just checked. He is 47 out of 49 for minions slain amongst mid laners. He is 4/ 49 in kills though. So really he is the perfect example of a champion who can get less farm than a jg but still do his job effectively

50000000000000001 votes

Oh, I meant champions with some sort of CS mechanics or on-hit effects with bonus damage. Didn't consider matchup at all. That's probably not very helpful tip, then.

Jungle Proxy Singed New Meta? Jokes aside, I can agree with this statement, if the junglers aren't taxing your lane.

A Basic Island1 votes

Although i do kinda of agree, there are those junglers that are like

"omg look at all this farm i have my team so bad"

doesn't mention thathe's been in every lane grabbing farm

Mighty Mortein1 votes

Depends if that certain laner is being camped by the enemy jungler. Maybe that instates fear that "Oh, that ____ has been here often, he's most likely going to be here soon again" or many other reasons.

Not everyone can get amazing farm. Assuming you AFK farm a lot in jungle, maybe it'd be better to gank and apply pressure so your laner that is behind gets some farm or even help them take tower.

Plus, I think many people are waiting for that sandbox mode to do what you implied and practice in a custom/bot game.

KoKoboto1 votes

If I'm winning as jungle I often out CS some of my laners cause I steal the enemy Krugs and Raptors if possible and everything else if I can.

Existential Bard1 votes

To be fair, there are some matchups in which a player has to sacrifice farm in order to not feed the enemy.

MunchCrunchLunch1 votes

it depends. my friend on master yi. 80% of his matches in high platinum outfarmes laners. hell even in the old jungle because he often pushes their lanes lol. but its usually good because he spilts and takes towers early
