Worried about Galio Update

As the title says. I am worried. To be honest I absolutely love his w and r. I feel like they can keep a golem theme and add on more of a kinetic absorption theme.

W heals when hit and R Ramps up in damage per hit. Maybe it can play off that.

His passive is also not AS great as it seems sans his level 1 bonus and his W bonus unless they want to expand his passive or make it more like originally intended for armor and Mr to give AP.

I'm curious to the direction but imy still very worried as he is my favorite champ.

Lets look at it objectively.

Galio is going to be reworked, can't do much about that since it has been officially announced (though you never know what may happen). A heavy rework (A total relaunch since they said it's going to be the bigger rework up to now) is going to change radically a character but Riot said that they will keep the core identity of him being a construct.

All the community can do is creating threads about which core elements are supposed to be bound to Galio and which ones are part of his core identity. That's what malicious Metal did for Mordekaiser and we all know that he gave a huge help to the Iron Revenant in order to recieve the needed fixes and making Riot admit they kinda still missed the mark and that Morde will have a more radical rework in the future.

I understand that fully but the problem is not much people play galio so those who play may feel slightly different on what that identity is. So it may create backlash for the galio mains and he isn't bad just kind of out shined. He was nerfed season 2 and then never really buffed. I think his w and r is integral to who he is . But right now he is somewhere between a crappy artillery mage and a tank. So either they will focus on him being distant or close and I think the latter makes snore sense. Therefore the w and r preference as core.

Well, if you remember the Xerath rework discussion even there not every1 was sure about what to keep and what to forfeit and even today there is some thread about new Xerath being worse than old Xerath (or losing his identity). The thing is that whatever you do you will displease some1.

From what Riot wrote they want to keep the aspect of a Mage+Tank character and him being a Gargoyle makes it just the right thing, he will probably keep his kit relying on landing some medium range skills and then unleash his power at shorter ranges.

Aso I was going through the Internet it's interesting to see many people appreciate galios ult and w as much as I do with a little displeasement in the rest of his kit. Although there are some q fans. I'm just hoping riot is looking at what the galio fans are saying.

I got a penta kill with Galio on my dynamic queue account this season in ranked. Sadly.... my stupid ass video recording program was updating or some shit during that game and did not record it. Would have watched that clip for years to come. :(

Thank god Riot has an in game replay system I could use to watch it again .... o wait..................................

well i mean if you go all AP with galio i can see it. he has one of teh highets base dmg's and ap ratio next to like... NUNU but atleast he has cc to keep em in too.

It was in a dynamic queue group and we specifically made an Aoe team. Think we had like Malphite top MonkeyKing jungle, Galio mid, I don't remember what bot was. I actually didn't get the penta off chaining our ults though, I got 1-2 kills from my ult and then chased down the other 3. But I am sure they were low from our AoE ult combo so I guess it was part of that. Was still cool, I was really pumped about it.

seems liek a fun team. i rememebr at start of the season when you can double bond of stone and be immortal i was running a galio and wukong bot lane and it murderfaced. man was it fun.

Well it looks like the ULT being kept is almost confirmed but not 100% promised. Now I just have to hope for the W and I'm excited for the rework! Wish I could suggest galio to be more of a 'kinetic/get hit mage' to Riot.
