why is decent map awareness such a high elo thing?

I'm in silver and sitting here in disbelief at how many people fail to meet the standard of map awareness. Maybe i'm just biased because I've mained lee sin jungle for so long and it kind of just came naturally.

Or maybe it's premades? Like people who go duo only care about what their friend is doing?

silver is still considered low elo. Last season I was in silver 2, but that was when runes were a lot better....

Not really, the vast majority of silver players are there because its the default Elo. Most people in Bronze dropped to bronze. i mean my literal first month of playing the game(back in season 4) i placed Silver with 40% WR.

The vast majority of silvers is there because its where they belong. People seem to have some strange delusions about silver. But silver does not have any skill or anything for it. So it being default ELO is very understandable. Bronze is purgatory and people end up there only if they are abysmally bad. Dropping innocent people there kinda unreasonable.

It's pretty easy to get tunnel vision when tracking minion damages so you can last hit, while also keeping an eye on the enemy laners positioning and cooldowns.

Supports only really need to worry about the last two so are probably a bit more map aware, and junglers are relatively free to focus on overall map awareness since their impact tends to be pretty macro level.

As you move up in elo the first stuff I mentioned increasingly becomes second nature, freeing up people to have better map awareness and look for roaming plays (and avoid ganks).
