It suggests Riot has tuned mmr to compensate for winrate imbalances, meaning that if you're in a premade, you're going to be playing against people with higher mmr than yours normally. They also mentioned in regards to ranked that elo losses and gains are calculated based on adjusted mmr, so that solo players don't suffer the elo losses of the mmr imbalance and that premade players don't gain an unfair edge in elo gains.
