Why is there no OFFICIAL champion tier list from Riot?

Even the list for champions in queue for a rework is outdated, and pretty much never viewed.

I don't understand how lower tier champions are still even available in ranked mode, it's ruining the numbers that riot uses to balance out champions. Riot really loves to "number crunch" their champions before balancing them out, like the % of win's or loses compared to x champ. Or how certain champs are strong in the pro scene yet the numbers don't make sense in the other scenes of casual/ranked.

A simple solution is only allowing specific champions to be picked, and certain niche champions can be unlocked.

Banning phase can also be DRASTICALLY shortened. It takes FOREVER to start a match with pick bans, loading screen times players are saying they have to leave etc.

EVERYONE can agree with this change since there are really no negatives to this change.

TLDR : Limit champion pool, fewer bans, different way to pick "low tier" champions

EVERYONE can agree with this change since there are really no negatives to this change.

Except those who like to play non-meta picks..

Which is a good amount of the player base............

And also, I really enjoy playing nonmeta picks like kennen or jayce. they are fun to play. your logic makes no sense

The main issue why Riot would never purposefully make a tier list is because it would contradict their marketing strategy. For them it's important that you believe every champion is strong and viable. In the end there's two sides of the coin:

  • Tier lists or metas are made by players and the professional scene. The god tier picks are defined by direct or indirect balance changes that push certain champions over the edge and in consequence throw other picks into the garbage bin. Remember rework Poppy and how she dominated the top lane since her rework and throughout the early months of the tank meta? Many consecutive nerfs hit her, so that people transitioned to other tanks such as Maokai and Malphite, then eventually the abuse of an overloaded stat on Ekko and Fizz, made them viable tanks aswell. Eventually, the unholy trinity of what made the tank meta even possible got nerfed (Grasp, IBG, Sunfire), along with Ekko and Fizz. Changes to Trinity Force suddenly made another overloaded champion make a resurgence. Where is Poppy today? According to LoLking, her popularity across servers are a measly 3% and her win rate stands at 46%. You see, Riot strives to achieve perfect balance, when a game such as League cannot and will never achieve perfect balance. Whatever riot does, will impact what champions will be played / abused both in competitive and casual / ranked queue.
  • Tier lists highlight flaws in many niche champions that can only succeed, if certain situations are given. Many champions, especially older champions, have outdated kits and should in my humble opinion, be given priority in reworks, rather than having Riot play the switcheroo between rework and new release. Tier lists are able to highlight what champions are outdated and can only succeed if certain circumstances allow their playstyle to succeed. An easy example to highlight this. Warwick is a very sustained jungler, whose ganking prowess is achieved once he hits level 6. Prior to that and during the cooldown of his ultimate, his ganks are barely a threat. If the meta were to shift to low early jungle pressure and immobile picks, Warwick could make a resurgence as a niche pick, because the circumstances for him to succeed were met. If on the other hand, the meta favours strong early pressure and champions with strong mobility, picking Warwick forces you into a less than optimal position, your niche pick has greater odds of failing and therefore another type of jungler would've been a much better choice. Dynamic queue obviously has it's own rules as there are a lot of OTP's that don't care about the meta and find a way through champion mastery and overall game knowledge to beat a meta slave and rise among the ranks, that doesn't mean the experience they go through is pleasant at all. I got bored out of my mind during the tank meta, when all I would face was Ekko, Maokai or Fizz and I would prefer more active top laners that would build damage over going full tank.

TL;DR - Riot doesn't release tier lists bc they want you to believe every champion is good and can succeed. Tier lists are made by players to highlight what champions thrive with balance changes and how niche picks or champions with older kits can very well dominate if shifts in metas favour their playstyle.

There is no big difference between a 450 IP or a 6350 IP Champion, a Master Yi can be way better than a Zed or Yasuo if used correctly. (Not to mention the pentakills xD)

What? Riot don't make any of these changes please. Fewer bans??? At least give more bans because the size of the champion pool is growing... more Champs should mean more bans

And WHAT?? You are suggesting pulling certain Champs from ranked? So those that main off meta Champs shouldn't get to play their Champs? What about when an underdog champ gets buffed with 1 or 2 patches and becomes viable or broken? What happens when Champs are nerfed from patches, meta change, item changes, etc. What then? You expect to only be allowed to play certain champions every time a patch comes out? What about champ rework? Should we not be allowed to play them in ranked if they are low tier but their rework makes them viable again?

Why give Riot more of a reason to take a certain freedom. They are already doing that enough on their own with the way they have changed ranked games as is. And comparing pro to casual is like expecting high school basketball to be as professionally fundamental as the NBA. Yes the rules are the same but the dynamic is somewhat changed for both scenes. They basically play the same game on two different levels. You don't see casual players in ranked practicing with the same team as much as you do in pros tho some do.. and you also aren't guaranteed that your opponent plays at the same level as your team does which gives different results whereas the pro scene sometimes offers the scenario of say 100 ppl playing with the same 100 ppl all the time be it on different teams or sometimes the same team depending on the draft/ roster changes. Best example is Master/Challenger; a lot of times people end up playing with the same people multiple times a day (on their team or enemy team) depending on the region and time of day.

The point of the pro scene is to watch the game played at its full potential with limited mistakes and an above average understanding of the games mechanics. Of course the stats are gonna be different from someone who's JOB it is to play league of Legends on a professional level. Things are usually different from people who do something for fun vs people who do something as an occupation. Sometimes you can't compare everything from both instances and expect similar and/or different results. It's just nice to have that information on hand from an analytical point of view.

There is no official champion tier list cause there are no official champion tiers. The more played champions are usually do to a current imbalance in power and power imbalance is pretty much the opposite of Riot's goals. Not to mention, I can currently decimate over half the mid laners I come across as Galio and he's definitely not a "high tier champioin".

If a player doesnt have time to get through the picks and bans then they relaly didnt have ttime to play in the 1st place.

Pick and ban phase is not relaly that long even if people take max time picking and banning. Thats just a personal issue you have with your anxiousness to play.

And how can you speak for everyone by saying EVERYONE can agree with the change? I dont agree with it. Just because you believe certain champs are low tier or unused doesnt mean there are not people aout there playing them.
