How to Have Better Bottom Lane Diversity

I came across this when I was looking at Bottom Lane and had a huge revelation. Vayne is strong, but it may not be ENTIRELY her fault. Look at the current popular Support picks.

Thresh - 31.96% Play Rate Leona - 21.14% Play Rate Blitzcrank - 19.89% Play Rate Morgana - 19.63% Play Rate Nautilus - 13.56% Play Rate

It's not entirely Vayne or whoever's fault that she is strong, ALL OF THE STRONG SUPPORT PICKS HAVE GOD LIKE ENGAGE! This is also why Janna has such as decent win-rate since she counters this like its her job. Vayne benefits heavily from a good engage since she has free reign to get a stream of Silver Bolts on her target since her foes are under intense crowd control. Solution? Riot needs to provide more support for Utility-Focused supports instead of Aggressive Engage supports. This would help the likes of Sona , Zyra , Soraka , and Bard along with other utility supports by a huge amount. This is how to help diversity. END THE ERA OF AGGRESSIVE SUPPORTS DOMINATING THE LANE!

Changes That Would Help: Bard Getting into utility Supports, Bard's main way of supporting revolves around his shrines. Buffing them in some way or adding an additional effect to them would help him become more "meta" so to speak.

Sona I have always thought Sona should have certain combos based on the order she uses her spells, like a song. Maybe change her passive to instead have different effects based on the last 3 spell casts, excluding ultimate.

Soraka No changes needed. A shift away from hard engage helps her enough.

Zyra I've heard some changes already tossed around the community. Revive from passive and such would be cool.

Funny how the four have good pull abiltites and the other has a crazy long as root.

Exactly. Crazy good CC engage (hook is really good laning engage). If Riot either buffed the weaker utility Supports or nerfed these champions, diversity would be bumped up a bunch.

But you have to land it and the pulls cost alllllot of mana early game. Thresh has mana issues where if you waste Q's then you need to b. the hooks are hard to pull off, but are "good" when you get a hook. Ive seen blitzs pull in the wrong champs or even minions, Ive seen thresh miss every hook.

You can't balance a champion based on the worse case scenarios. Sure, they use a lot of mana, but they offer so much engage that they are restricting what is viable Bottom Lane. Hooks are usually low risk, high reward spells. They should be hard to use, cost a lot, and have some down sides.

Also, when I say god-like engage, I mean in the Laning Phase which is where Supports are usually picked for when you think about which to use. USUALLY!

hooks should be low risk, high reward because they are a skillshot that rewards you for landing it. Also if you stay behind a minion wave and predict the hook you will be fine, people just walk in front and think they'll be okay.

Ya... No, the engage supports are fine

What needs to happen is the poke supports need a buff

It's a Rock Paper Scissors for supports

Engagers>sustainers>pokers>engages

Soraka is a huge counter to engager supports, because she silences and roots while healing her adc, she lets her adc win a trade even when he lost the trade and she makes it a trade instead of an all in, so their engager will lose to much hp per engage

I went vs a mord soraka bot and we couldn't push mord out of lane (I was naught) it just didn't work out

Now needs that would be more reasonable to them would be low level mana costs

For example, it's discusting how Leona can engage constantly without mana issues while alister can go in twice then oom

They can play with early level mana costs to even them out, but other than that I don't think they need a nerf

Alright, I see your points, but to me it just doesn't feel like the supports listed are up to par with Thresh and Blitz and the like in my opinion.
