Zed 5.1 changes

Wow, they really nerfed him HARD. With the removal of DFG and nerfed mana regen items hurting mage "assassins" this really puts him down to their level now. I mean he still has tons of damage, high mobility, manaless constant poke, etc. But this nerf was exactly what everyone was hoping for!!! Not sure who was hit harder between the two, Zed or fizz?!

(I meant 5.2 changes... I SORRY)

Another patch of Zed destroying mid lane. I watch that LCS game where everybody was hating on Hai for failing against Orianna but Zed is just so damn oppressive right now

They need to fix the real problem, invulnerability on assassins. As of right now if you, 1v1 zed you're most likely going to lose, as you should, but even if you severely outnumber him, he's still just going to dodge any powerful spells with his ult, jump on the squishiest of you, get a kill, then most likely get away. Same thing happens with Fizz, but Fizz is less likely to get away.

Not really sure why they felt the need to nerf Fizz so hard. Just the removal of item 3128 hurt that champ severely. Then they pile on ability nerfs on top of that, while also requiring him to have his R active on a target to have any hope of doing meaningful damage to? I mean, I don't play Fizz and I find him cheesy and annoying, but the champ honestly wasn't half the problem Zed was.

They totally crush Fizz with nerfs, and barely touch Zed? Zed will still be able to pop item 3142 and item 3153 and repeatedly pop anyone he wants every time his ult is up, then escape flawlessly with the press of a button, very little risk ever taken upon himself. Zed gets split pushing nerfs.......with no REAL compensation (Tibbers move speed LOL) to champs that use item 3128: Veigar Katarina Leblanc Syndra TwistedFate Viktor. This patch will be dominated by Zed and any other AD fighter/assassins that can just build Ghostblade/BotRK. Orianna is about the only viable AP mage mid pick that benefits from DFG removal by virtue of the fact other top AP mid picks just got nerfed hard. But even Orianna was already indirectly nerfed hard after AP mana regen got castrated recently while being labeled "buffs".

Then on top of that an already boring lack of itemization in this game just got more shallow with no real promise of a replacement item. Only ambiguous maybes as far as compensation buffs and a new AP item. So who knows for how many patches the state of AP will remain pathetic.

Also there's this:

"I've posted this tons in replies, so let me be clear - of the champions being compensated for DFG's removal, Ahri and Veigar are at the top."

But somehow, Veigar "didn't make it into this patch", and with no new AP item in the forseeable future. Veigar is now a champ that has lost approximately 25% of his burst damage and a perfectly suited item to his kit. What does he build for CDR now, rush item 3165 lol? I would previously only build Morello's very situationally. Now it's pretty much mandatory on a bunch of champs. Again........sad lack of itemization choices.

Talk about radically shifting the meta......this is a shining example. The reality is resourceless AD assassins and fighters will now be massively preferred in every situation. Why would anyone want to play champions cripple by prohibitive mana regen problems, less reliable damage (skill shots), and now nerfed kill pressure when they could just play the AD's and not have to deal with any of that.

Disappointing balance decisions.

Fizz essentially became 99% less overbearing in lane without his ult being up. No longer will Fizz be able to win trades by simply Q+Wing you with sheen, they hit his base values pretty hard. While there's been debate about this old W vs. the new W, that was in turn hit pretty hard too for the early stages.

I'm not saying Fizz/Akali weren't overbearing to play against but I feel like Riot's constant favoritism has got to stop at some point. Fizz, Akali and a few others were nerf'd to basically compensate the mana nerfs for all mages. Akali nor Fizz have ever had a safe laning phase pre-6 like some champions cough cough Zed and have hardly been able to farm safely in all match ups, cough cough Zed.

I don't really understand the logic behind the Zed changes, mid/late game he only needs 1 auto attack after an ult to proc his passive and kill you anyways. He's outplay potential is out of the world, pretty much he can all-in you as he pleases and if things aren't going too well, he can press R and get out scotch-free, meanwhile you probably blew flash/heal/ignite trying to survive.

Sure the nerf affects his split pushing sorta? I feel like right now Zed feels a lot like pre-reworked Kassadin in the sense where if he has Ult up, the only way you're going to kill him is with a chain of CC's or burning your flash to catch back up to him.

Big hey, at least the LCS gets to keep their big plays champion large and in charge.

Do the MATH and see the actual amount of attack speed Zed loses. Though they did hit Fizz way to much.. Yeah he can burst you with just his regular abilitys but his R is already very hard to hit and very clunky. And these nerfs will preety much mean fizz can never kill someone if he doesn't have his ult... And make his laning phase worse which is already atrocious.

i know when someone has no idea what he is talking about when he complains about the "nerfed mana regen items" "muh mana cost"
