Is too hard to dodge, how do I avoid it?

It's not his w that you should worry about, it's his E and Q for his passive. Anyways, you just have to move to the side. You'll still get hit with the first part of it, you can't dodge that without some type of invulnerability. Just do your best not to get hit with the second. That's the part that hurts way more.

its a skillshot, you predict where he will use it. It is a instant cast with good width, but doesnt deal much dmg if only the 1st tick of damage goes off.

Basically what Chroma Spell said. Void Rift, Vel'Koz's W, has two parts and the first part is near instant and is as hard to avoid as Lux's E. I can't really give you good advice on dodging it but that shouldn't be something to worry about because the first part deals less damage than the second. It makes sense since the first part is easy to land. You do have to be careful of his q and e though. His a helps to land his e and his e helps both parts of his w hit you. So dodge his q and e.

Vel'koz is a lane opponent where you can take one ability, but not get combo'd off each one, especially early, since if he continues to be able to combo the mess out you, he'll poke you down till his ult finishes you the fuck off.

If you gotta eat one, eat one, but make sure it's not his knockup. Getting hit by that after 6 is sure death if you aren't full HP and ahead in lane.

The following statements are made with a mastery 6 on the lazer-squid:

Velkoz lives for comboes. if he gets his magic three hits on you, he will deal shitloads of damage with his passive, which is exactly what he wants. However, single/double hits don't really do a lot, as his kit is weaker to compensate for his passive. his W especially is wussy af, dealing almost no damage and only really useful if he catches you with a q/e first.

Basically Velkoz's only real harass outside of his three hit comboes is his Q, which can chunk you really fast. Basically, velkoz is a man of skillshots. If you can't dodge those, you're gonna have a really bad time. On the other hand, if you are a god at dodging, the velkoz will actually be useless. like, garen vs teemo useless.

The 1st part is a bit hard to dodge, but the 2nd part is extremly easy to avoid.

Just try to prevent getting Vel's passive stacked on yourself, and espacially, dodge the deadly W +E combo
