Why People Who Think They Deserve a Higher Rank Can't Climb
So, a lot of people are lower rank than they feel they should be. People, including me, who have played this game for a while grow better mechanics/game knowledge/rotational knowledge than other people in their rank. However, oftentimes, they find that they can't climb.
Probably the biggest problem that I've noticed for me and other low rank players is that we don't farm very well. People who can farm very well can climb the ladder even with sub-par mechanics/game knowledge/rotational knowledge, while people who can't, even if their overall gameplay is far better than most lower ranked players, often take much longer to climb. We often rely on getting early kills for a gold lead to carry our teams with, and that just isn't reliable and often winds up taking us too deep too early and getting us killed instead, giving the enemy the lead that we were trying to get for ourselves.
Another problem is infighting among team members. The other day, I was playing some Caitlyn and the enemy Jhin was stomping us, very fed very early, and his team said that he was being toxic towards them, blaming the support for him not being able to farm, and all sorts of other stuff. This infighting cost them the game. Because he and his team started refusing to group up, he couldn't use the lead that he had effectively, meanwhile we grouped up and started picking them off. We then got enough gold from picking them off to get a huge lead for ourselves and win. Moral of the story: resist tilt, and even if you are tilting, don't take it out on your team.
