Why Riot Won't Bring Back URF

Every time ARURF comes back, people complain that it's not regular URF. We don't get to pick our champions, so it's less fun. That's how it always is. But, they have posted before the reason why they refuse to bring it back: they notice a pretty significant drop in the playerbase when they remove it. Players tend to leave after URF goes away, and they don't come back as quickly as they leave. Nobody likes that answer, but they've posted and they've shown the numbers, so we as a community should be able to understand that.

However, they as a company should also be able to understand that there is a solution. I've posted this every single time ARURF has released, since its first release. The solution is simple: give us a pool of 25 champions per team, completely randomized from all the champions in the game, and let us choose one of those 25. It would fix the problem of it not including player choice, while simultaneously keeping the random element and in theory, having fewer people quit when they take it away. Please, Riot, at least try this out once and then, if it fails and you go back to ARURF, post the numbers and explain to us why.

To be honest that is kinda stupid. Wanna know why? because they don't take into account all the players that come in ONLY for URF. They only look at the loses so it looks bad, but many, many people would install LOL back again just to play URF and get rid of the client afterwards.

Playing URF is like playing with cheat codes and when you only play a game with cheat codes you never gain the skills needed to play it normally and losing that power when you switch to normal mode makes it feel slow and dull at times. This is just like being addicted to a drug, you keep wanting that high but it's bad for you in the long run.

I dont think they were able to put their thumb on exactly why players left, so I don't think making major modifications to the game mode is the correct answer. If it does indeed fail, they again, lost more of their player base, and 2 invested all the money into development, testing, quality assurance, and releasing the updated content. you'd be surprised how expensive it is to make seemingly simple things like this can be.

but purely to your point, it would be nice to have URF around, but i think it's more important that they identify why URF players leave. in my experience, URF is a faster pace game, which is nice for me. Its a lot easier to make a comeback, and similar to ARAM, there is a lot less toxicity because there are much fewer players who are taking it very seriously. to me, it's more about it being a relaxing game, rather than champion selection. but i'm also only one of many.

Being unable to trade or ban in this mode is what is really making it shitty. If I get a horrible champion like Tahm Kench, it wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't dealing with Zed and Jax. Just let us ban, then randomize the champions after ban phase. Really sucks to have all but 2 champions so I get too much shit to reroll consistently into a usable champion while enemies own like 10 champions and get Zed all the time.

While I would prefer having the normal URF, I find your idea as a great solution to the problem.

Such a great idea, and just makes me question why they haven't figured that out since after the first weekend of ARURF. I find myself getting mad at this mode more than the jungle show soloqueue. Shit reminds me of Elsword when it use to be fun, then they added more PTW and bullshit, and I haven't touched the bloody game in years because its unjoyable as shit. (Oh, not to mention the server in pvp still lags like no tomorrow. Love you phantom hitboxes out the ass.) I'd honestly prefer Nemesis Draft over this version of URF.

Well maybe if they had more game modes instead of just focusing on one, then just maybe they would not significant drop in the playerbase.

It's pretty shameful & embarrassing that a company that makes billions just only focus on one... single... map... & people are stating to show signs they are getting pretty sick & bored of it.

They cant even enjoy the 2 other maps because bots had been running rampant on them because they again, pay attention to only one map.

It takes 5 seconds to find a match in arurf/urf, and up to 3 minutes to find a match in any normal mode, all day everyday. Honestly, I feel like riot forgot to look at the fact that probably all the old players log back in for the first time in months thanks to urf, because the rotating game mode is all thats left thats fun when youve been playing for many seasons, when so many other versions of this type of game exist now, 10 years later.......

Wait do people just leave because URF goes away? Or do people come back when URF comes back and then leave when it's done? Or do they leave because it came back and they hate the gamemode? This statement has never made any sense to me and I feel like the numbers of people who play the game normally doesn't ever change/ real people who play never changes.

Maybe League is actually just dying...

Sure sounds like they don't want to give Urf back because a playerbase that doesnt experience FUN isn't as likely to notice how un-fun their current product is and leave once the actual fun game mode goes.

Anything riot can do to make you forget the good times and embrace the "progress" of the current product.
