So, I'm an ADC main, however I like playing several other roles and champions. I've been really wanting to play Fiora for a while, so I queued top/mid to get top, selected her (as our team's second pick), and then our ADC (third pick) said "I'm top." He was premade with the first pick, who stole the champion. Now, I would sometimes switch if they asked, but they didn't ask they just said outright "it's mine." So, I simply dodged (it was normals) and took the small penalty because I really don't care about it.

TLDR: ASK, don't just steal the role. Stealing the role causes a lot of toxicity before the game even starts and basically guarantees you to lose. If the person you're stealing the role from doesn't dodge, they'll probably intentionally feed or troll in some other way, shape, or form. I would have switched with this guy if he had asked.

Unfortunately, the kind of people who would steal the role if told No are already toxic and tilted. Having them on your team already destabilizes it and sabotages your efforts at victory.

I've had folks in ranked ask nicely for a role and, when told No, they went total troll on us. I've not yet won a game with any such player. That's the negative impact that they have on the game. I am just glad they are few and far in between.

Most people want to win and will not go out of their way to ruin whatever chance they have. But there are individuals who are too selfish and emotionally unstable to care.

FYI, taking other's role is considered unsportsmanlike conduct and can be punished for it.

Yeah, take a look around mate. Unless you're flaming someone the whole report system is basically worthless. You need more than a years worth of games to get caught when being blatant.

because I don't think the report system is worth using? Because they dont take action unless someone is blatantly out of line and even then its only because they are blatantly out of line in chat?

I report rather infrequently, so your logic doesnt work. Nice try though.

yea, we've seen too many people that use mild toxicity frequently get punished here. so we know the system does work.

The visibility is low, I'll admit that, thus alot of people feel the system doesn't work. So you aren't the only one.

Then again, you are free to believe what you want.

I don't know what else you want though. People shouldn't really be banned for mild toxicity unless its consistent for a long period of time. The only time I want people banned is when they go over the line like intentional feeding, trolling, AFKing, extreme toxicity (racism, homophobic remarks, etc.), and even stealing roles.

I have reported many people that were banned, so I know the system works. Perhaps don't expect someone to be banned for telling you to shut up or calling you an idiot or something and you won't be disappointed. That shouldn't be ban worthy anyways to be honest.

I refuse to give into trolls like this. They want to go top, they are going to have to share it with me, and I am not going to make it easy on them. I'll take the loss and wasted 20 minutes just to prove a point.

I do the same thing. If they want to genuinely give duo top lane a try and the current queue system won't allow it, fuck it I'll give it a try. More times than not though they try to muscle people out of their role and do so while flaming and blaming you for what happens. People who refuse to cooperate in a team game deserve to have a "forced break" from the game until they're willing to cooperate.

You're not stubborn enough. I'll make it a duo jungle before they steal my role. And if they ban the only champ I have, I pick the most absurdly off-meta thing I can find.

I should've done that. Picked Quinn, made it seem like I was gonna go ADC, then go top lane. Since it was normals, I should've. If it were ranked, I definitely would've dodged.

Thankfully i havent had to deal with people like this, nor have i seen them in my game. But it is a problem and sadly nothing we can do to solve it. This is one reason why you shouldnt dodge as they are basically getting away with breaking the rules. I would hope any type of person dealing with people like this report them as they will get punished for it.

Since it was a normal, I shoulda just played it to report them. However, in Ranked, I would definitely dodge because reporting them just isn't worth the LP loss that I would get. Taking a few minute penalty and a much smaller LP loss is 100% worth it to not lose the full amount for the loss IMO.

I also really like your, report after a dodge idea. Nearly impossible to implement, but I like it.

Not dodging is just wasting 20 minutes at least of your time in the vain hope that RIOT's system which has proven to be incapable for a decade will finally come through.

They've had too long to solve this issue to have made so little progress.

It works, they just don't shout to the world that someone has been banned or chat-restricted or whatevs. They do tell you if you were the last person to report that got them banned, but just because you don't see the work doesn't mean it isn't getting done.

Right now, the only solution is to dodge or play the game through and report them. I feel like, if you dodge a game, it should pop up the next time you log in asking why you dodged and give you the opportunity to report someone for negative behavior, and if your case is justified, even waive penalties on you from the dodge and get them penalized for the unsportsmanlike conduct.

You can report them via support ticket. Just had same thing happen. My ADC went Lulu and when I went Jhin to go along with it they said they'd intentionally feed since they wanted to do Lulu ADC (in ranked.) Took a screenshot and reported him and his premade that was doing something similar.

Off-meta picks aren't punishable.

If they were placed in Bot and you tried to steal their role, you are the one who would be punished.

They said they would feed intentionally in response to you stealing their role.

While threatening to feed intentionally is punishable, so is taking another player's role without their permission.

They were the ADC. They picked Lulu to play ADC. This is not punishable.

You were not ADC. You picked Jhin to try and force them into the support role. This is punishable.

I didn't steal their role. They were queued for ADC and chose Lulu. I asked if they wanted to support and that I could ADC if need be, because I'll do whatever I need to in order to win. They were silent and my time was clicking down so I chose Jhin. They said they were going to make sure this game would be unpleasant for everybody on our team. If you're going to do off meta you need to communicate that.

And Lulu "ADC" isn't punishable but Jhin "support" is? You're defending them for choosing a support despite being placed in the bot lane role, yet you're attacking me for choosing an ADC despite being placed in the support role. If the internet could just stop trying to be so politically correct all the time everybody would have a better time here tbh. There doesn't always have to be a devil's advocate. They said they were going to feed because they were always going to feed because they were a troll, which ranked is plagued with. When I thought they were stealing my role because they chose a support without a word, did I threaten to feed?

Just take another top laner and lock in. Screencap and send a report ticket in. That's what I used to do.

It's why we need some sort of dodge system for normals and ranked. You could have just retaliated by playing another top laner and still going top, but 1. It wouldn't be fun, and 2. You would probably lose. The system as it is forces us to play with these people, and if we don't want to (which is certainly reasonable, League games can go on for a long time, especially when trolls stop surrender votes for fun), WE get punished, rather than the other way around.

Some people are polite enough to ask, unfortunately the couple of times I've swapped with someone, they've been downright terrible in a role I thought they were supposed to be good at (or so you would have thought). Strangely enough, I don't think I've ever had someone try to steal my lane when in Draft.
