How do you even lane with Aurelion

The problem is that his main harass (W) auto-pushes creeps, causing a lack of wave control which will be punished by junglers and roaming supports. This will become especially problematic in higher ELOs where players know how to punish pushed up lanes. The choice is effectively to harass and get camped or do nothing the entire laning phase long (except for CS of course) and focus on roams, which is bad because looking to punish every CS is an essential part of playing mid lane (especially as a ranged champion!). How do you lane with Aurelion knowing this handicap exists? Any tips? Should he just be played as a jungler?

As an example, you're up against a Fizz and you use your level 1 W to harass him to half HP (his strong level 1 is mentioned by the champ spotlight). At level 3 you'll find out you completely screwed over the waves, allowed him to freeze in front of his turret and put yourself in a very dangerous situation where you're going to be sandwiched by a jungler and a Fizz unless you stand near your turret, but that would make you lose out on cs and maybe even xp. Basically, you can't use your strong early harass because it screws you over.

You lane with Aurelion Sol the same way you lane with any auto-push Champion: You mass farm the waves, harass when they try to last hit under tower, and keep an active eye out for ganks. If you know your actions are going to get the enemy jungler's attention then there's no reason to get caught off guard by their ganks in the first place.

I would assume you don't harass as much as you would with other laners. That or you constantly shove the wave into their tower and be on your toes to run.

Aurelion, much like Heimerdinger, is going to push his lane whether he wants to or not. You can't fight it, so instead you'll need to adapt to it and figure out a strategy that works.

Personally though I think he's better in the jungle than in the lane. Those ganks are stupid.

Well, it's pretty easy. What I do be aggressive. I constantly abuse his low mana cost for W, getting free pokes, and using his passive to farm quite quickly. I push minions to the turret, back up and wait. I can do this so fast, that by the time the turret steals my opponents farm, the minion wave after isn't affected. It works out great. As soon as i'm level 3-4, I go for the kill. My first back, I grab Health crystal and boots. Or a mana crystal depending on if i got the kill or not. Then laning is even easier because i can stay longer, and not have to worry about the harrass as much. :3 7 games yesterday consecutive. Undefeated so far :3
