I own every champion... why did I get a champion shard in Hextech Crafting?

Title. Is this an intended feature or a bug? It seems a bit weird since I can only disenchant it...

Legitimate question. Not sure why someone downvoted you. I was wondering the same as well and I don't play on the PBE so I wouldn't know...

Neither did I, and even though I read PBE notes regularly I'm still trying to wrap my head around every changes this patch. Thanks to the user above for giving an answer!

This is intended. You'll be able to use champion shards/essence for Champion Mastery 6/7 later. It's possible there may be other uses for them as well.

Also, when a new champion is released you can reroll 3 to get it :3

So... there's going to be a hypothetical use for these shards, except there isn't at the moment? That's not much to go on tbh - if the feature was implemented then sure, but currently I can't do anything with this or ANY other champion shard.

It's not hypothetical, it's already on PBE. You'll use champion shards/essence to unlock mastery 6/7. You can also save 3 shards and use them to instant unlock the new champs.
