Can we admit some Champs are just fun to play?
and arent popular because theyre OP? Or that theyve become comfort picks for a lot of players?
While yes, most of these champs have at some point been very strong picks, they continue to have relatively higher pick rates even in underpowered states. This is also based off of our games, please be aware LCS is very different and isnt an apples to apples comparison. Also be aware that even though you specifically don't enjoy a champion, that doesnt mean a lot of people dont either
: Yes he has been very strong in the past, but round after round of nerf has currently left him pretty weak tbh. Despite sitting at a 47% win rate currently, he's still has a pick rate thats over 20%. It just is fun to play Lucian. His combos feel very fluid
: Again one that has been strong in the past. Despite having just a 46-47% win rate, He is still the most popular Jungle pick at ~20% pick rate. He's been popular for so long that he's become a comfort pick for a lot of Junglers. That does not mean he's OP though. It just means people enjoy playing him
: With pick rates and win rates almost identical to Lucian (~20% pick rate, 47% win rate), its safe to assume people just like playing her. Has a lot of outplay potential and is a stong duelist. Her short range however leaves her very vulnerable, especially in this meta.
Like Lee, another case of a poor win rate despite being the most popular pick for their role. Thresh is sitting on a 48% win rate despite his 25% pick rate. He has a lot of utility built into his kit which feels great to use. Lots of cool things you can do with Thresh and overall a very fun champion.
Gonna lump these two together because even though their pick rates arent super high, that might have something to do with both of them having ~50% ban rates. Despite very high ban rates, Vlad has a 8% pick rate and Zed's is 9%. Despite being so feared, both of them have SUPER low winrates of just about 46%.
My point is that even though a lot of these champions are popular the reason isnt always because theyre strong. Sometimes people just enjoy playing certain champs or feel comfortable on them. I feel the the popularity of these champs really hurts the ability to balance them properly. Anytime Riot puts buffs out for these champions on the PBE, everyone loses their minds. But to you think some of these champs could honestly use them?
