So every year, there will be a new Sion-level rework on an old champion?

YumaS2Astral··4 votes·12,202 views

Last year, we had, wel... Sion. Now this year we have Poppy as the next Sion-level rework, since her rework is even being presented as if she was a new champion.

I wonder if we will have another Sion-level rework next year. I hope that Fiddlesticks is the next candidate for such a rework since his kit is really outdated, he has so many problems, and his visuals and voice over are outdated too. Either him, or Warwick, because WW suffers from the same problems as Fiddlesticks, on an arguably way worse level.

any information about when Mordekaiser is going to be fixed?if it's not soon i'm going to write something large (an old idea I couldn't write because I saw he was going to be reworked). I think it'll be tonight(it's 8 am now here)

Look, they only rework and add counterplay to (non-lcs) champions at Riot. which basically means they only gut non-lcs champions or try to turn them into lcs champions

Maybe, but this time, I'll write my ideas. Maybe they're not that dumb.

Taric is on the list and is coming up soon. Not sure how reworked he'll be, but every year they alter his kit significantly and it never balances him. I'd like to see Taric get a good kit for once.

WW is also on the list. Morello would talk about him on the hitlist from time to time.

From what I understand, Taric will be a Gangplank-level rework, no?

LaoBushido1 votes

no he will be sion level.

Sachabot1 votes

He's also due out next month, barring anything game-breaking.

LaoBushido1 votes

um they said early 2016 i would like January but i don't think it is likely

3TWarrior1 votes

I think they said it wouldn't be later than february or march at latest but the end of january or middle of february was expected after they work on the preseason changes

We haven't committed to a specific time for Taric yet. It's highly likely he'll be the next full scale rework out, but beyond that can't give any specifics until we're closer to a firm launch.

thank you for the update and it's amazing to receive a red post, oh well, here's hoping it's an accurate prediction

Hopefully there will be more visual updates like for Heimer, Karthus and Maokai.

Is Urgot still being worked on?

You guys are much further along with Taric correct? Kits all done, he just needs visuals, model, etc.. right?

Sion level's the plan for Taric, though without the shift of class that Sion and Poppy went through (he'll still be a tank support primarily).

Ralanr1 votes

But he's a fighter...who builds lots of armor.

Last I checked he was fighter class. I know he's seen as a tank though.

OMG is taric gonna become an assassin?

I don't really trust the part about no shift of class, because you sure said poppy and sion would keep their "identity," which I guess doesn't include playerbase and playstyle in your opinion.

Our intent with Sion and Poppy was always to try and preserve their thematic identities while addressing the major kit problems they had. We didn't feel that 2 button click stun burst mage fit giant undead warrior, nor that low counterplay assassin with an extreme power curve was the right way to do valiant yordle warrior, hence the class changes. In Taric's case by contrast a tough support who heals/buffs allies is a good fit with Taric's core theme (gem paladin effectively).

To be fair, sion could have just not had ap ratios. AD sion did work thematically.

And poppy had the whole theme for YEARS.

Satanstein1 votes

I sincerely hope we'll still be able to play Taric as a close range badass bruiser. Going AD jungle on him is an experience worth having at least once.item 3930

My main fear is that he'll be pigeonholed into the "Can only support and isn't able to fight well" role that a fair number of other supports are in right now. Taric is one of the few hardcore knight type characters in this game that is every bit as cool to play as you'd expect from his design.

So.... The champion/balance team cares about lore.... When the lore team doesn't even care about the lore...

Most of us have stopped caring about our champion's "themes and backstories" because the lore team has ruined it all. I care more about how my champion is played, and its mechanics.

Good job on keeping Poppy's theme....o wait.... You could have atleast kept her personality after doing such a drastic playstyle/theme shift. A bubbly adventurer(New) vs a serious person filled with duty(Old).

ExecutorDill2 votes

It was either this or delete her. I rather a bubbly yordle who is deptively strong and can knock Sion upside his head than a serious old face yordle who looks like she's 10 times older than zilean. Why? Cause its fresh, ita cute and has more appeal to younger league players than that old rust bucket :/ No Offense.

If you want a seriously tough female champion BUY ILLAOI. Me personally i only like yordles when their cute hence Teemo, Kennen, Dragon Trainer Tristana and now the new Poppy. Riot is doing a great job and only getting better at everything. +1 RIOT

As long as I can still build an IBG then hit the delete button on a squishie champ then I'll be happy with the Taric rework.

So... what's your team's intent with Yorick, the champion supposedly being reworked after Taric? (I say "supposedly" because things can change).

Do you think Taric will be finished next year ?

Could you have made poppy a medium counterplay assassin with a more reasonable curve?

Dessem1 votes

But are there any plans to do a proper yordle assassin in the style of Zed, Diana, Leblanc, Talon etcetera? :D

ExecutorDill1 votes

Hey once riot can make it fun and also ally jungle Taric for the roaming healing then i'm on board.

Bard is my favourite support right now, his kit is fun, versatile and deceptively strong when used right. I really like the idea of gem paladin. In mmorpgs a paladin is a subclass (cross between knight and cleric).

A lot of ppl want to see taric top lane, and generally I can see the appeal but wouldn't that mean shifting his power in to scaling so his duo lane won't be oppressive due to low income?

ExecutorDill1 votes

In league sometimes defense is the best offense and sometimes the invert. What i'm asking is... Will he be able to do a decent amount of damage? In botlane I get poke out of lane by enemy Sona's I still do good but she can take like 35% of my ashe's life with her Q and Passive.

ExecutorDill1 votes

I have yet to be dissappointed Rito :D Before Poppy was that ugly yordle who waddles around and delete people in my games with brainless point+click barrage. Now I actually feel inclined to play her xD she looks beautiful and her kit looks super fun with a fair amount of complexity to it

Nahara1 votes

Will he actually be worth attacking to justify the tanky stats?

If all Taric does is heal and buff allies, that's something that a support like Nami or Sona can do and they don't have tanky stats taking up their power budget. If Taric is gonna be a tank, he needs the tools to be a tank, to force the enemy to fight him rather than his carries.

Suigen1 votes

I hope you Rioters keep up the good work with these reworks! That said, Taric better be just as fabulous and outrageous after the rework. Also, have you thought about giving him a charm effect like Ahri's E instead of a stun? (Except maybe still targetted like his current stun) I think that'd allow for the outrageousness to stay while providing him something quite unique, given only one other champ has a charm at the moment.

I want to start quoting you in threads about how great the "Sion Level Reworks" are.

Because, so far, all I've seen is that Riot leaves in one ability, then scraps everything else and calls it a day.

I don't want new champs with old names, I want the old champs, just tweaked to work better. [zombie-nunu-tears]

Don't forget that you still need to revert Mordekaiser.

ExecutorDill1 votes

So basically he gonna be like leona with aura effects and less cc?

ExecutorDill1 votes

Please tell me Shen is taking the Sion and Poppy class. I'd just cringe inside if he became a Tank/Support like Taric and Leona T_T.

Im really confused as to Shen's role in league he's not suppose to be a dps tank (confirmed by rioter) he isn't allowed to have burst without sacrificing his essential build (Maphite and Volu don't have this problem). His ult is 100% assist ally only (unlike Tahm Kench) and he can even heal enemies once his Q life taps a neutral monster (most ppl don't know this up to to this date)

No this isnt going to be some annual thing where they just completely rework old champs. They are reworking champs that had needed it for a long time, and poppy was one of them that was planned to have one for awhile. One other champ that will be getting the sion level rework will be yorick, I dont think I saw them say any other champs that are due for a massive rework

also just personal opion, I dont think fiddle needs that huge of a rework he has his niche and isnt exactly toxic to the game or anything like old sion and poppy were
