Remember when Riot asked Azir players what they wanted him to be balanced around?

And they all said they would prefer if he kept his ranges but lost the dash? And then Riot came in and said fuck you guys we're just going to balance him around hitting big LC$ shuffle plays? And then they nerfed him into irrelevance before the pro season even started because they decided his shuffle is too strong while completely disregarding what 99% of the Azir playerbase actually wanted in the first place?

Yes Rito "reworks" back at it again

A majority of them wanted to keep the dash lol. Something along the lines of not wanting him to be another boring long range mage.

Im pretty sure they did a poll and the shuffle won, i mean, it is meme tier move i'd be surprised if they removed the shuriman shuffle.

As an Azir main, I'm so sad with the recent changes. This last nerf is very large, since soldiers are by far your main damage source and it's reduced further when you attack with multiple soldiers. They also nerfed 3 parts of his meta rune page. Sometimes I feel like they only cares about parts of the playerbase, and just nerfs what's played by pro players for the rest.

?

The majority of Azir mains voted to keep the shuffle

If you gonna pull the “Rito don’t listen to players” card then do it properly

Riot don't even listen to their own play testers why do you think they'll listen to random players on boards.

This makes it extra funny given meddler/ghostcrapper decided to use their D5 play testers as show ponies for why it doesn't matter that the balance team consists entirely of silvers.

They tried both, but the shorter range version was simply the version that worked best.

Then I missed something. They never tested long range

Lmao, how much longer range did you want on a champ that can fuck aggression with his ult?

He already had an effective 800 AA range prior to rework.

Xerath only has 1200 max range outside of his ult and he’s balanced by an all skillshot kit. What do you propose with “long range” Azir with 900-1k AAs?

I wanted them to balance Azir around his long range DPS playstyle, not the damn gimmick the Shuffle is.

Which would have meant giving him a different E. Instead they chose to make Azir a walking gimmick with damage.

And they said they'd have to give him a new ultimate. I was expecting that they'd go down that route.

No one said anything about increasing Azir's range.

It was about balancing him around keeping the range he already had by giving him more weaknesses if people managed to gap close onto him like taking away his ability to dash away, and also making it way harder for him to hit big ults in team fights with no way to dash in. Azir was expected to rely on his soldier damage and range to carry team fights instead.

They should make his E bring a Soldier towards him and shield him instead of making him move to it, kinda like Orianna's E.
