I think deathfire touch is better in lane for almost everone?

It adds 10% ability power to your spells in lane for poke ( assuming the spell is aoe ) and unlike thunderlords you dont have to land 3 spells and the cool downs is how ever long it procs for?

Deathfire is never better than thunderlord unless you're brand or anivia who can apply it to an entire team for over 10 seconds, and good anivia players don't need ulti up that long making it only good on brand atm.

Once the buff comes in it can be viable again but atm thunderlord out damages it except for on brand, swain too kinda since he like anivia can stay in ulti for 10 seconds.

Thunderlord out performs deathfire especially with the flat penetration mastery before it. Since the 7% penetration reduces the value of void staff anyways.

and Deathfire is not good until mid/late game+ while thunderlord is amazing early game and still stronger than deathfire end game except for on brand and anyone who can keep a move up on the entire enemy team for at least 10 seconds (Anivia, Swain to name a few).

Ur literally making no sense its the same damage dude if not more on a shorter cool down . even early game instead of 30 second CD its 2-4

Quick question, do you honestly think aside from the champs I listed you can actually safely apply DFT to come anywhere close to thunderlord?

DFT is nowhere close to thunderlord's damage, unless you're brand or someone who can constantly keep spells up for 8-10+ seconds on an enemy team you'll never out damage thunderlord because you can't keep it up long enough.

DFT's incoming buff should help it compete with thunderlord but atm it's no where near thunderlord's damage because you seem to not look at the base damage which goes into 180 late game while DFT is useless until late game. Thunderlord is better early-mid and unless you're brand/some champ who can keep DoT on an enemy for past 8-10 seconds (8-10+ for AD would be 450 BONUS ad, and AP 900) even then it's worthless unless you're brand/rumble/anivia/swain who can keep it on an entire enemy team for that long.

DFT is nowhere near thunderlord's early-mid game power, and late game it's still worthless unless you're a caster who again keeps it ticking for 8-10+ seconds

All of this however isn't due to thunderlord being op it's due to the nerf to other keystones (except undying/supp keystones) making it better for anyone except tanks who always take undying.

Until next patch, thunderlords out shines almost all other options... However, if riot fixes the other keystones (which they are buffing next patch) then perhaps deathfire touch will be used by sustain damage mages like xerath, and thunderlords will be more for burst mages, like viktor.

At least, thats the idea i thought was behind the keystones.. I could be wrong though, deathfire touch seems to be highly favored by only DOT mages. Like brand, zyra, and rumble for example.

I don't know if Viktor is the best example of a burst mage, he kind of has poke and burst, which is a pretty rare combo so he could conceivably take either mastery. Leblanc would still take Thunderlords though.

why when her q would turn from 80 to 100 ap

Vesarixx1 votes

Deathfire touch is damage over time, so if you're following the Q up with another spell you would lose damage, since it wouldn't have time to deal the full damage before being refreshed, any champ that would rather combo someone within a short time is better off taking thunderlords, if you're playing someone like Ziggs who just wants to poke with Q repeatedly then deathfire touch is better, or a DOT mage since the DOT will continuously refresh the damage from dft

Well leblanc is an assassin, so yeah that makes sense. Viktor is dif as a mage than say ziggs or xerath. They rely heavily on poke, where as viktor would love to just do a round of his spells and be done with his target.

lol. how much ap do you exactly have on average in the laning phase? seriously.

Actually, DFT illaoi mid is exceptionally powerful; very, very, very few people expect the damage output of a deathfire tentacle and AD runes give her so much level 1 damage.

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

Illaoi is better going 0-18-12 Illaoi needs the defense and cunning offers more utility and survivability then ferocity. DFT does nothing unless past mid game comparing to thunderlord.

Depends on if you can actually proc thunderlords. I actually have problems against good players procing with melee champions vs ranged champions; deathfire ensures damage and illaoi rushes AD to begin with. Deathfire has something like a 50% bonus AD ratio vs thunderlords 30%.

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

Illaoi procs thunderlord with 1 w and anything which you will do, if someone can't they need practice. DFT 50% bonus ad ratio means nothing to 180 base damage+30% bonus ad ratio

Unless 20% of your bonus ad can exceed 180 which it never will thunderlord will always out damage DFT especially since illaoi is made to clutch tank which means you aren't going to be applying DFT to at least 3 of the enemy team for 8-10+ seconds to come anywhere close to making it useful like brand/anivia/swain.

and again illaoi applies thunderlord with just w+anything which illaoi does anyways in a trade and even if you can't trade that way past laning phase you're going to do that anyways.

Illaoi is a safe laner, though. She doesnt "trade" per se, even in higher ELOs (been seeing her pop up in sneaky's streams occasionally) and instead focuses on harassing with Q and E. She rarely ever goes in on W unless its for a kill. I understand your point, but you can apply four seperate instances of deathfire touch in 20 seconds, which on its own is 40+200% bonus AD. And you can apply it team wide.

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

Altho that's not really the really I would take thunderlord over deathfire illaoi-wise as well.

The fact that you need the cunning and resolve tree for sustain/defense in order to stay healthy enough to get damage off and the 5% CDR to give you 45% to make sure your ws can go off more during ulti. Tbh it's not really keystone that makes the difference but the fact that the masteries prior are better for illaoi leading into thunder.

Although undying is also amazing on illaoi but lately people pref 45% cdr over the tenacity/ armor+mr.

insaiyanbacca1 votes

keep telling yourself that man. not only is thunderlords better for a majority of burst champions(because it does its damage all at once, also making it harder to use potions to negate) it also has a flat penetration mastery or bonus cdr mastery right before it enabling you to do more damage then the ferocity tree anyway.

Ralanr1 votes

Glad they're nerfing the flat penetration then.

In what world does DFT do the same damage as TLD on a much shorter cooldown? Sure the ratio is the same but DFT's base is 4, which is 10% of TLD's base by the time you hit level 4. You need a ton of AP/AD to make up for that, which you do not have access to in the laning phase. DFT might do more damage in the laning phase but only if you're applying it constantly - TLD procing once will always do more than several DFT procs.

Not to mention the pen in Cunning is better than the pen in Ferocity.
