Darius gets free bonus armor pen when lvling E, a flat amount WHILE Garen must hit you overtime with his E and actually earn the shred. Yes i am aware people do not max E first but that does kick in after mid game. The pen stacking with cleaver is pretty broken on him due to this. Maxing E last is more beneficial as targets will be near max itemization or as tanky as they can get making Darius perform that much better.

Yea Darius's Q has a lot of counter play after he pulls you to him slows you then casts Q EASILY landing the outer part on any one that doesn't dash out immediately, which if you do means he just won the trade hard.
And if you are to big, (Cho, Naut, voli, mundo, garen, and several others.) you cant even fit in the inner portion so good luck dodging that LOL. the counter play is real.

For one thing, a Good Darius would E auto W Q. He would Q by walking backwards a bit. To counter this, LITERALLY WALK AWAY FROM HIM. If he keeps Q, he will either do the same thing (walk backwards slightly while casting Q) or walk forward while casting Q. The counterplay to that is walk towards him THEN run away again. And that entire combo I just listed? That's a little above 2 auto attacks worth of damage if you dodge Q.
Character size =/= hitbox size. Seriously, the only time a champion wouldn't fit is Chogath, and the only time he wouldn't fit is when he has 5-6 stacks, but even then he's tanky AF and a Darius Q isn't that impactful. And you literally think Garen or Mundo are that large? Ugh.
Did you forget that? His Q has the counterplay of an auto attack. Darius Q has more counterplay than, AS RALANR SAID, GAREN'S ENTIRE KIT. Garen's only "dynamic" ability is his E, but that also has the counterplay of an auto attack, except even less because it has a bigger range. Garen R has the counterplay of an auto attack due to it being a tiny range point and click. Case closed, you are wrong.

Xion The XIV2 votesidk, you can't really force a Garen out of lane unless you picked a Ranged top laner since Doran Shield and passive will get him all of his HP back. Once Darius Q's down you can force him out of lane. Or make him blow his Q before you attack him. I will admit Garen's Passive on his ult is kinda worthless early game since you will mostly see the other top laner so the true damage will not matter unless you decide to let top kill you and get back before someone else dies. But you have to admit Garen is a much "Safer" pick then Darius in all generalize sense. If you are a passive laner Darius will not really fit your style.
