Let's all agree that AP junglers are struggling right now. One of the main reasons is that their jungle item is weak compared to the other 3, whose cost efficiency is insane.
With patch 8.10, Riot decided to "help" those AP junglers, by giving them stats that are standard for mages; mana and CDR. So, what did they do? They removed the MS bonus on the jungle item, and instead gave them 300 Mana and 10% CDR, and I'm sitting here thinking, how fucking stupid is this?
Who the fuck thought that removing the MS bonus from the main roaming role of the game would be good and grant them 10% CDR and Mana?
Let's break this down. Who are the main AP junglers? Elise, Nidalee, Gragas, Fiddlesticks, Evelynn.
Who benefits from the MS? EVERYONE. Having a lot more MS means that they all get in a much better position to land their combos and have a successful gank, they can roam faster, counter jungle etc. It's extremely important to have a lot of MS.
Now, who benefits from the extra Mana as much as they do with the MS? NO ONE. If you are jungling, and you are running out of mana and you actually need that 300 extra to make your jungling work, then you are doing something VERY WRONG. There is honeyfruit in the river, there is mana regen on the jungle item itself, hell, the Echo passive grants mana regen too. It's safe to assume that the extra mana is COMPLETELY NEGLIGIBLE.
And now, about the 10% CDR. Sure, it's a good stat, but it's not important on those champions. On Elise, you either hit your cocoon and you have a successful gank, or you don't. Having that 10% CDR will do NOTHING. Same with Gragas E, or Nidalee Q. Same for Fiddle Q as well. In each one of these champions, there is one main ability that will decide if a gank will be successful for not, so you either land it initially or you don't. The extra CDR will do nothing for it, while the MS bonus is important to get into position to land it.
Honestly, if AP junglers were bad before, they are going to be completely trash now that they lost their early game strength at ganking. Just add the MS back.
As a sidenote, that's why you get for listening to clueless people on these boards. For some reason, some people wanted mana and CDR on the jungle item, and Riot went with this.
