Why everyone considers Vladimir to be that strong?

He has a lot of weakness that can be taken advantage of:

  1. He has no hard CC. His only soft CC is a slow on his pool if the enemies are standing at the top of it, otherwise Vladimir has no CC and he requires teammates to compensate for that.

  2. He is short ranged. Many champions can outrange him; mages like Xerath, Syndra, and Anivia can shit on Vlad during the lane phase just because of their range advantage. Also, this makes Vladimir somewhat easy to kite if you are an ADC like Jinx or Caitlyn, both which outrange Vladimir just with their basic attacks.

  3. Speaking of CC, Vladimir himself is very vulnerable to it. People say that Vladimir's worst weakness is Griveous Wounds, but on my opinion, the worst weakness of Vladimir is actually if he is stunned, or snared, or silenced. Yes, CC counters most champions, but people seem to forget that Vladimir is weak to CC because when he is under CC effects, he can't cast spells, he is a lot more vulnerable due to its short range... and can be killed easily because although he is tankies than other mages, he isn't that tanky.

  4. Vladimir's passive makes him very vulnerable to abilities that do damage based on a % of the target's health. This means that Vladimir is vulnerable to things like Vayne's Silver Bolts, or Malzahar's Null Zone, or Fizz' Seastone Trident. Even a Blade of the Ruined King is a very good item against Vlad; not only because of the lifesteal, but mainly because of the passive. All those abilities can actually punish Vlad for stacking AP.

  5. Vladimir HAS a weak laning phase. Some people say that he doesn't; granted that Vladimir laning phase is not that weak, but don't overstimate it. Vladimir's spells have long cooldowns early game and he is very item dependent. Playing an early game champion like Riven or Darius or Nidalee can make Vlad's laning phase a hell. Even champions that Vlad is supposed to counter, such as Yasuo or Cho'Gath, can actually beat him during the first levels, due to Vladimir's early game vulnerability. Also, due to Vladimir's lack of reliable escape and immobility, he is vulnerable to ganks during the early game. You can ask your jungler to camp him which will make Vladimir useless during the mid game as Vladimir has a lot of difficulty making his way into the game if the enemy is far ahead of him.

Vladimir is not a bad champion by any means, I main him, I actually know that he is very strong and has a lot of potential to carry games, he was always good even when he became popular recently. However, I know that he has some weakness, and I would like to know why people exaggerate so much about how Vlad is strong, as if he was invincible.

Imo his passive pretty strong. Honestly just has good stats. IDC if u have the best kit, if you don't have the numbers to back it up your still meh. Olaf was a good example of this. Poppy would be super strong if her numbers were better.
