Can Diana have higher scaling attack speed?

I'm pretty sure vayne's is higher than hers even with Diana's passive of 20% bonus attack speed.. With something like attack speed in your passive I feel like you should end up ahead in that stat compared to another champion's normal scaling/lvl in that stat. Thoughts on this?

Diana is actually in a really good position right now and is a safe and viable pick at almost every ELO. Riot wants to keep the good things good and it would be risky to change her when she's in such a good spot.

It's intended. Diana's passive was intended to give her better jungle clears, but they didn't want it to become abusive if she built a lot of attack speed. With that, she was given a low base attack speed and a buff in her passive to push her to the normal attack speed. Basically, she was made to scale poorly with attack speed, and the passive thing is just a relic of that.

What's the point of giving her "bonus" attack speed if you don't even end up higher than anyone else. Seems pretty counter-intuitive and like a gimmick to me.

It's like a store advertising a normally 100 dollar item, marking it up to 1000 dollars, and then proceeding to call it 90% off to price it at 100 dollars again. You're not really getting a discount, it's just there to make you seem like you are apparently.

It's so she gets more sooner, but not more overall.

A better anecdote is that she was to be paid $1000, over 10 months at $100 a month, but couldn't really function in the early months, so they pay her $200 extra early, but she only gets $80 per month for the next 10 months.

It's just a different growth curve.

It's not a spiteful thing. I would guess that at some point in Diana's testing, a straight oh-hit attack speed build, a la Kayle, proved toxic. Since she needed the passive to help her clear (since Riot really wanted an AP carry jungler), they decided to make her scale more poorly with attack speed than normal. Same thing that Caitlyn has now, actually.

??????? & her current attempt to one shot people playstyle isn't toxic? (Sure it's fun for the Diana player, but I don't think anyone like playing against it)

I'm not commenting on Diana's power level. What I'm saying is that Riot wanted to make an AP assassin who was viable in the jungle. To do so, they gave her that passive to help her clear without running into the typical AP-jungler mana issues. However, the passive proved a problem because it was abusable with an attack speed build, and Riot wanted an AP carry. Since they needed the passive to help her with her clears, but didn't want it to a primary damage source, they made her scale poorly with attack speed.

Diana isn't an assassin, riot **never **wanted her to be an "assassin" they wanted her to be a sustained damage output mage/fighter see her tagging being Primary Role: Fighter Secondary Role: Mage.

She turned in a pseudo-assassin only because the player base has found it abusable, she was never intended to be an assassin hence why I think choice around her passive was a really stupid idea.

How many times do I have to say it? I'm not making a statement about whether or not Diana is a well constructed champion, or whether or not she's fulfilling her original purpose. The question posed in the original post was 'why does Diana have attack speed in her passive but a low base attack speed', and I answered that question. That is ALL I tried to do.

The point is that she doesn't benefit from attack speed items very much. They give her enough burst damage to be really dangerous to squishy targets when she dives and don't want her to also have sustained damage on top of that to also beat any targets that would survive her burst.

Yea but honestly it was a really stupid idea, it promotes her going with her unhealthy delete & oneshot game play pattern which everyone hates on. Rather than going for sustained damaged fighter mage she's suppose to be.

Need some degree of rework, imo.

The passive is to give Diana better early game use of her passive, it is intentionally left weaker late game on purpose. To give it more power would mean the removal of power elsewhere, and frankly, I'd rather avoid that.

It give her a boost on her early game.....thats all its for

I'm a Diana main and I really don't think they should touch her. Yes adding some base attack speed might open up some alternate build paths for her but it would most likely make her way too powerful and ultimately result in her getting nerfed in ways that destroy her identity.

No shes not. Shes been toned down to a much manageable level but good job at downvoting my comment because you disagree with it. She use to have the iralia syndrome but with way more aoe and burst. Did you forget the days of roa abyssal hourglass rylia's on her where no one could kill her and she would just Q-R everyone on your team?

Like I said, She hasn't been touched THAT much lol.. she is still capable of doing wrecking faces.. Good job assuming that I was the one to downvote you :3

Guy's thank you all for your feed back! I honestly really do appreciate not getting bombarded by toxicity for asking a question out of genuine curiosity! My only disagreement however is that one of the people that commented it's only meant for her early game.. well functionality wise it currently is.. I don't have a problem with it and I really do enjoy playing her.. but I don't feel as though passives should only be affective early game.. perhaps that's why she has her magic cleave damage. Thanks again guys and girls =]

Fix her damage to make her a actual fighter or fix her stats and W so shes a actual assassin first.
