What drake is best to get as first drake, say about 5-7 minutes into the game

Fire drake doesn't really do much at this point you havent got the stats to back up the 8% buff It scales well later into the game but early on thats not very usefull yet

Mountain drake seems good for taking any objective faster from that point onward, but you still have to deal with your opponents before you can take their towers and neutral objectives are also likely to be contested and mountain doesnt really help with contesting objectives, it only helps you take them after they have been contested, and like fire drake it gives a % buff in damage so it scales well but isnt immediatley very usefull.

Then ocean drake which also gives % sustain seems ok, its good for sieges becuase you have regen and also seems to be usefull in laning fase wehre the regen will help you outlast your opponent so he will always have to backf irst after which you can shove the wave and gain a cs advantage or a bit of tower damage

Cloud drake only gives a small movement buff but since no one has more then regualr boots at this point for the most part it seems like a decent enough buff which wil help dodge skillshots in lane and egt back to lane quicker and it wil help you get into advantageous positions before the opponent in any future contests over objectives. Shoving in a wave after your opponent recalled then getting back to lane at the sametime he does is also nice and allows you to build a cs advantage.

Imho i think cloud and ocean are the best drakes to get very early on, theya rent big buffs but they can help you grab a cs lead and get better positioning for the next objective or make you witn out the poke war when facing other teams by the next objective.

They seem to help you to grab small advantages immediately through giving you a small map pressure advantagerather then having to deal with your opponents first then pressuring for objectives. And this can help snowball a lead which will help contest future objectives

whilst fire drakes are probably the best lategame dragons to stack they dont hold anythign a against a gold lead early-midgame Mountain drakes are probably a good thing to have during midgame where you want to knockdown enemy turrets and mayeb take herald or an ealry baron but they dont really do anything for you in he early game to help you grab an xp/gold lead.

Which leaves me to think if you can grab a drake very early wouldn't cloud or ocean be better to have then mountain or fire?

Cloud drake is a must rush.

It's stronger than people think.

Indeed.

He basically gives the ability to free trade early on... the gold advance you can earn, if used propely, can be felt for the rest of the game.

Unless it was changed recently, Cloud still only gives out of combat movement speed. Useful, but not nearly as much.

fire and ocean are the best. fire is a must have and you should always contest it, even if its just to ensure the enemy team doesn't get it. water is a little variable, its great for anyone with mana. mountain and cloud are situational, judge by game basis.

but the other two are just free stats, gotta have em.

have you ever seen a veigar with 3 fire drakes backing him?

ocean for the sustain.

Early-game Ocean drake tends to be pretty crazy. A lot of matchups can be heavily influenced by the increased health regen. When a lane has a skirmish that results in worthwhile, but not fatal damage to both sides, whoever has ocean drake is goign to rather rapidly gain a sizeable HP advantage.

Cloud dragon is always, 100% of the time the BEST dragon to get. No matter what time, no matter what it costs you and your team. If they ace you-- Oh well you got the Cloud Dragon. You Gotta Go Fast, Faster than Sonic, Faster than the Flash. If you can transcend speed then every game is yours. {{summoner:2}}

Don't contest wind, contest the other 3.

I'd say it might be mountain. Your jungler gets to clear faster and snowball more and you can maximize your tower taking potential to further snowball the game.

Cloud and Mountain probably

all but cloud, ocean really helps alot in lane, mountain alows to snowball the objectives, especially future drakes, and while inferno doesn't help imidiatly, haveing it reinforces your lategame and, just as important, means one potential inferno less for the opponents.

Cloud is nice if you get it for free, but it's not worth to put to much effort into it. A single cloud has very little use, 15 ms out of combat doesn't make enough of a difference for most of it. If you can get 2-3 off them, they are great, but you don't know that at the beginning.

even after nerfs. still ocean drake. why

well cloud just plain sucks

infernal takes time to scale

mountain is ok but again it scales with damage. early game no damage and there are no lane swaps and they don't help as much when you have little stats.
