Learning from worlds for Season 7
So right now we see a meta in proplay that soly revolves around winning lanes, and comps in quarters feature up to 5 dmg-focused Champs - it´s not strategic, it´s not really interessting and most games end before they even start after a bad pick&ban phase....but it´s absolutly what S6 pushed everyone in right from the get go, and sth riot somehow didn´t care about nor ackknowledge at all. Frankly, i really don´t know how this could happen to the game i once fell in love with for the strategic gameplay it offered years ago..winning over the largets playerpool in the world by doing so. Nowadays though it just feels like a lol-light, like the iphone version where you don´t have to try to really understand the game anymore...you can just plug and play and don´t care for much more than your early laning. and that rarly feels good for me...and if boards are worth any indicating neither does it for many others.
So what has to happen?
surly for a complex environment like lol there are no easy answers...but some things are abundandly clear when it comes to mistakes this season has made:
- there´s not enough vision to play around, making the game a lot more snowbally
- there´s an abundance of dmg at every stage of the game
- there´s a real huge advantage for ranged champions in most parts of the game, especially laning (existing since rather forever)
- riot still doesn´t ackknowledge that providing some champs with an abundance of everything (clearspeed, sustain, ganking...) early on leads inherently to an incredible stall jungle meta, and no plant is going to chance it
- herold and to some extend drakes mostly get taken just because you don´t have much else to do, rarly do they create interessting gameplay and setups
...so I´d beg you to just focus on the core-issues this preseason and build sth one can truly enjoy with more than 20champs instead of growing plants and fondling around with assassins.
