Could you guys stop saying "Malzahar has high base damage"?

The only thing that has high base damage on him is his W, and without it he would stop to be a champion since it's only thing that is threatening opponents to just jump on him everytime, because his E takes a whole lot of 4 seconds to deal mediocre damage or some serious damage over... 8 seconds, yeah even a B5 Janna could've realized to use her E on you during the 6th second.

During the rework his E lost 100 flat damage and his Q lost 70.

His max FLAT damage from this two spells changed from 620 to 450, if he resets at MAX duration his E he gets out 670, just 50 more than pre-rework and he has to wait 4 seconds for the reset and another 4 for doing full damage. BUT, let's look a the ratio from 160% to 210%.

BUT WAIT AGAIN, lane phase Malzahar has high base damage? Malzahar maxes W anyway, some pros max Q, but we'll see a E max Malzahar (Which require you to get in range to use it). We'll use a perfect 4 sec reset and we will compare it to a pre-rework E Q damage:

E1 Q1 : 230 instead of 160 E2 Q1 : 300 instead of 220 E3 Q1 : 370 instead of 280 E4 Q1: 440 instead of 340 E5 Q1: 510 instead of 400

Best case: a 110 damage increase over an additional 4 seconds

Now a more achievable 2.5 seconds reset (usually people run away when they have Malzahar E on themself for fear of his... reset? No, his W chasing them):

E1 Q1 : 200 instead of 160 E2 Q1 : 256,875 instead of 220 E3 Q1: 313,75 instead of 280 E4 Q1: 370,625 instead of 340 E5 Q1: 427.5 instead of 400

Best case: a 40 damage increase over an additional 2.5 seconds

Yeah, clearly more damage going from 40 more damage to 27,5. But yeah, Malzahar maxes W as I said. But why exactly? It's way more bursty to have 4 Voidlings that deal 160/200/240/280/320 damage each second than you waiting you 4-2.5 seconds to use your Q, why not just pop everything and look at your W doing way more than your entire kit and also it's CD diminishes with levels? You let 4 Voidlings attack you for 2 seconds? That's 320/400/480/560/640 base damage alone, look up the perfect 4 seconds reset damage. See the difference? You might say that Voidlings takes time to spawn, and you are right, but you either fall back or that happens disgusting damage will happen, realistically you will take 3 auto before you start racing down your tower, so the damage will be 120/150/180/210/240.

As you can see Malzahar has lower base damage than pre-rework (because waiting for 8 seconds and 4 for a perfect resets should grant that worthless 50 damage anyway) but his AP ratio has gone up by 50% (realistically in a team fight you will use Q almost instantly after E or very shortly after it, so let's say 2.5 seconds wait time? so 183,75% total for a total of 23,5% increase).

In short, Malzahar needs a new W because his E and Q do about the same damage and they theoritically scale better with AP (sorry guys, I main him MID, NOT SUPP, MID, MID!... ehm, I needed to say that, as I was saying:) but that 50% AP ratio increase is almost never achieved, as I said, most of the time you are forced to reset at something like 2.5 seconds for a 40-27,5 Flat increase and a 50%/23,5% AP ratio increase.

Support and Jungle malzahar max w first, midlane usually maxes e for the waveclear, but its up to the player, all are viable to an extent But riot needs to fix malz anyway. I want my midlaner back

So what you're saying is Malzahar's W has high base damage, but not his other basic abilities? That doesn't seem to contradict "Malzahar has high base damage."

It does and does not, it shows that Malzahar lost all of his other base damage on his Q and E in the rework but his W has the abilty to kill you in seconds, but if you lowered the base damage on his W you would make him drop down to a 30% winrate because he would hit like a wet noodle, increasing the ratio would be stupid because he woul melt carries in seconds with his W.

Malzahar has all of his damage loaded on his W to keep him viable right now, and Riot chose to keep it in flat numbers.

You're absolutely that "Malzahar has high base damage" but he has it only on his W, howewer you can't nerf it without gutting Malzahar since the rest of his kit hits like a wet noodle nor shift the power to a ratio one without creating an abomination that drops E W and walks away while you are supposed to kill 6 Voidlings running at you, you need to change it totally.

The title might be wrong in a literal way but saying "Malzahar has high base damage" means he's not utter garbage right now, you see how he's played midlane? He just drops E W Q on the wave and never interacts with his opponent because he loses every trade due to using E and W on the wave, meanwhile bot he can just hold onto W E and just zone the ADC like that, that's just pathetic.

Both Malzahar and Graves are in the same boat: both are champs who are completely messed up after their reworks to make their kits more "healthy" to fight against.
