I think they did that as a thematic to the charm. Her seducive skills by lore are meant to be so unmatched that once you get charmed by her you literally blink out anything and everything else.
Thought, admittedly, the Sound mute is nothing other than just annoying. and can really sabotage you against matchups that have voice indicators, like Annie passive or riven R.
hey just remember, if you play eve you have to deal with game audio being muffled basically the entire time you are in stealth.

Warwick is almost just as bad. There's no need to change my music if I'm paying attention.
It's annoying but I also think that's supposed to be part of the charmed effect. Other charms that hit you are instant. Evelynn's gives you time to react and retreat, so I think it's a fair trade off.

I've had games where my audio crashed (ages ago) and it was a severe handicap.
Normal people react faster (by about 0.1 seconds) to audio cues. And audio cues are a lot more easily distinguished than the thousands of different skill effects from thousands of different skins.
In short, I absolutely hate getting Eve Charmed during a fricken team-fight.
But but... don't you know that's what Riot wanted her power sink to be. FEAR THE DEAFENING CHARM
It's worse having her as Ghost with

What if the audio mute is part of the spells power budget? It's pretty cool in that way, like a graves w but for the ears
There should be an option to toggle this effect. This has cost my life too many times because I can't hear when my Yasuo tornado is ready.
