We wouldn't have lost if we had a real support...

said a Cass with less than 100 CS in 20 minutes, negative KDA, and completely wrong statement when I played Annie. A real freaking support! I didn't even ask for the role, I was the last pick.

I'm sure that there were several factors that led to your loss but that Cass was right about one thing: Annie isn't a real support. She's just a mage that gets played bot lane sometimes.

I didn't reiterate, "everyone" was feeding except the support(me), I was the only one that had a positive KDA and no most of them weren't Ks's. I even got KS'd more than them.

If I played Soraka the game would have been over before 15.

If you're gonna play a mage bot and call it a support, at least play someone like Vel'koz or Zyra.

Why isn't Annie viable as a support. She does a ridiculous amount of damage without any items and has a stun every 4 spells for God's sakes!

From what I've noticed, her damage typically falls off later in the game, her early game damage isn't the best compared to the other ap carry botlaners, and the tibbers stun loses its luster after people start getting stun removal items. She's viable, don't get me wrong, but there are much better ap carries to play in my opinion.

This is exactly what I'm describing. "There are better AP carries if you choose to go with Annie." Why do you think I stopped playing Annie mid and only as a support? Because she falls off!

I'll disagree on one point, her early to mid game is actually one of the best and while her damage is not as high as Zyra's she offers way more utility!

As a support, I'm only trying to get my ADC fed and stop him from dying. Once laning phase ends, my work is done whether I failed miserably in getting him fed or suceeded.

In that case, Malzahar, Brand, and Zyra all shouldn't be called real supports because they are all mages played in bot lane. Annie is a support for 2 reasons.

1.) Utility: Annie's stun is one of the best in the game. Allowing your ADC or yourself to get free hits in. 2.) High Base Scaling, Mediocre Ratio's: Annie's doesn't scale as well as other stronger late game hyper carries like Vladimir or Ryze in return she does better flat damage early to mid. That means she's also less item dependent and doesn't need kills or CS to deal damage.

You're right. None of those champions are supports. They're all mages that are just played in the bot lane.

Also, your reasoning behind why Annie should be a support is irrelevant. There are only two types of supports in the game: Tank Supports and Sustain Supports. Annie is neither of those two things.

Did you get your role stolen? Or blind pick?

Blind pick, really want to start ranked again but I don't have the patience to go through match decline, dodges, and remakes.

Everything from aatrox to zyra can be a support if you try hard enough. Jarman being one of my favorite off meta supports.

I'll agree with the Cass; Annie is not a real support. Neither is Malzahar, Brand, or Zyra. Furthermore, a support shouldn't be there to "do damage" and is instead should be there to set up ganks, ward, peel for the carry, and maybe set up engages. At no point does a support need or should "do damage" as there are carries that are meant to do that. :/ Even more so, what items did you build? did you even get a sightstone? What about a redemption or locket? Rylai's for better kiting for your ADC? A Frozen heart to make the enemy AD do less damage? If you didn't get any of these items and instead built your support item and called it done and then built full AP, you were not a real support.

This is true. Still, every time I play support, I know there's a good chance if my team is performing poorly, nothing I can do will stop me from losing.

Even if I did choose Soraka, could I have stopped my team from feeding over and over again by doing something really stupid like walking into enemy jungle territory or going in 1 vs 5?

If you warded as Soraka so that it was safe for them to walk into the jungle, then sure. You could have stopped them. Supports should be using vision to control the map; if you're team is dying in the jungle because they can't see where the enemy is, you're failing. You should be roaming as a support as well to make plays. Ganks don't only include when the jungler ganks bot lane. Its when you can roam mid to gank.

It wouldn't have helped, I mean it might have but the chances are slim. For one, the team was constantly split. Even if I warded I don't think it would have stopped a 1 vs 3 from happening when they were so deep even without vision.

We also couldn't get a push going for the very same reason. Someone always wondered off to die and warding deep would have been useless.

We were actually winning most of our lanes until an argument broke out. I also roamed mid when I could.
