It is possible to use Free Week champions on ranked games - is that intended?

I was playing a ranked game and I could select Azir. However, it was very strange, given how my account (a smurf) didn't had Azir enabled. Then I checked to be sure that Azir was a FW and even got to the surrender at 20 site to see - and in fact I could use Azir on my ranked game despite the fact that he is a free week champion.

Can Riot hotfix this? I suppose that free week champions weren't meant to be used on this new champion select on ranked games.

It's no bug, its been around since I've been playing, probably longer... Excluding yorik, no one likes him.
