Why is there a need for a so called 'class update' ?

We had the adc-update, the juggernaut rework, the assassin rework and the tank rework. All of them were big patches with several reworks. And yes there are one or two good reworks that improoved the kit of the reworked champion (katarina, darius, talon, quinn) in each class update. But it feels like the other reworks are just for the sake of "at least we changed something, for the better or worse it doesn't matter". There was no need to rework zac, maokai, kog'maw, skarner or mordekaiser. Or at least if you really wanted to rework them riot, come up with an interesting idea first.

Not all that glitters is gold and I don't need a fancy looking huge update that reworks a whole class, if only 1 or 2 of the reworks are serious improovments of the champion. Of course there are also the itemchanges included into the class update. Everytime I read "We want the Item XXX to have a more unique character and that's why it will give you a ton of one stat and almost no other stats besides". There might be a need for the champions to have a character, but the items? Aside from the lethality items that took way too long to get balanced, I did not appreciate any of the item changes in the class updates.

Please riot. Rework the champions/items that need a rework but don't add tons of other changes for the sake of selling it as a huge update. And when you rework only one thing you can also add a beautiful event like the bilgewater thing to get the community hyped.

the idea has usually been to spend time on champs who need some work but can't get an overhaul any time soon, or in the jugg update's case, to create the group itself and set some parameters for future ones

the reason they fail is because the champs who want/need to be changed the most are the ones far too big in scope for a class update to succeed in Mordekaiser Skarner Shaco (debatable) Vladimir KogMaw etc

You might be right about the reason for these champions to be included into the class upadte. But I still don't think that it's good to rework them without improoving their kit to the maximum potential. Everyone has to get used to the changes and for some who main those champions it's even more bothersome not beeing able to play the chapion kit anymore that they know inside out

I myself was disappointed this midseason.

The mage and assassin updates seemed to have a lot of good build up. Big announcements and such. (I liked the webpage). This time it seems I learned everything from the boards and still haven't found a fancy page to see things.

This was a tank/vanguard. Not many actually got changed. We only got like 2 new items. It feels like support items got more updates than tank items. Tanks lost items.

What is this.

Honestly, I'm glad maokai and Zac got reworked, since maokai was too always relevant, and Zac's damage AND cc was front loaded onto his e and it was useable out of dog if eat, making it a huge damage and cc number that you had only a shadow to warm you it read coming

It's rather dull they remove reliability of more balanced characters to test out a gimmick, while leaving abuse cases alone.
