Revamping Twisted Fate's Passive, and simpler passives in general

Hey, everyone. I want to talk about the Card Master Twisted Fate, and more specifically his innate ability, Loaded Dice. Hailing from a simpler time, Fate has a mechanically simpler kit than most modern champions –and that's okay. Simple is good at times. But Riot promotes the idea of fun and engaging kits, which I'm totally behind. They've been trying to phase out the simple but effective "stat from stats" abilities (like with Xerath, who got armor in proportion to his AP) or skills that aren't particularly fun or interesting despite taking up some of their champion's power budget (like with Ashe, whose E granted bonus gold whenever she killed things). So naturally, I want to talk about Twisted Fate's passive, Loaded Dice, which grants him bonus gold whenever he kills things. Huh, déjà vu…

Yes, I'm very well aware that the likes of Tobias are very low priority on the Champion Update team's schedule. But that won't stop me from talking about it, darn it! See, I'm not a huge Twisted Fate player myself, but I firmly believe every champ deserves a bit of love (except Riven and Fizz). http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20150312021516/leagueoflegends/images/0/0d/Loaded_Dice.png Loaded Dice certainly fits Twisted Fate's theme as a gambler, but there are a few issues with it that have emerged in its old age. It isn't engaging or even interesting at all. You get a smidgen more gold every time you kill an enemy, but that's it. Though it adds up, it lacks a certain charm. You don't have to put any thought into it, which is a bit sad really. The obvious solution would be to make the passive more interactable, but unfortunately (for Tobias), another champion's already got that niche covered: Draven. League of Draven perfectly realizes that game of chance you'd think is Twisted Fate's realm –you play your cards right, and the payoff is game changing; you get called out, and you're left in the dust. That's the power fantasy of a gambler, if there ever was one, except Draven has it. Well, you win some and you lose some, Tobias.

Jokes aside, Twisted Fate does need a new passive. Since Riot obviously can't/wouldn't give Draven's passive to Fate for the sake of "character identity" (as much as some of you would love to get Wicked Blades back), that means either Tobias' passive will need to move away from the "hustling gold" niche or come up with something that stands out from League of Draven while being just as engaging.

So what have you, board members? Any ideas to breathe new life into the Card Master? Who are some other champions you think need a bit of a kit facelift, but are otherwise fine with?

I'm of the opinion that gold generation passives in general are pretty much the worst thing in the game. They give a decent chunk of invisible power that you don't really get a solid feel for.

Exactly my sentiments. A lot of hidden power, but it never feels powerful.

How about:

TF gets 1 extra gold from any minion he kills. Consecutive last hits without failing to kill the minion double the gold from the passive stacking up to 4 times. Critical hit doubles the bonus gold. Killing a champion gives 10x the gold.

1st last hit - 1 gold 2nd last hit - 2 gold 3rd last hit - 4 gold 4th last hit and onwards - 8 gold

Max gold from killing a champion: 160 gold

If TF attacks a minion or a champion and it doesn't die, the passive resets. And the stacks probably should have a duration as well... let's say 10 seconds.

PS. Expect a lot of AD TFs with item 3087 :P

Perhaps every 4th auto attack, he deals 4% max health true damage, and then shields him for half the damage for 3 seconds, after which he heals 50 hp.
