Is there a more beginner friendly champion than Sion?

Juice··3 votes·1,874 views

I know most people would say Garen is the "easiest" or most "noob" friendly champion, but I have to disagree.

Sion is the most braindead champion in this game that completely breaks the fundamentals of this game aka laning phase or the importance of it.

The new inting sion start just proves it. Everything about this champion - the way he farms, the way he gets tanky, the way he clears waves, his ridiculously low mana costs (anyone ever seen a sion run out of mana? me either), his ability to farm even after he feeds his ass off ...

This champion is the true, ultimate noob champion that will be useful with all his CC even after 20 deaths and 0 farm.

In my humble opinion, after his rework the game went down the hole and the entire game was dumbed down for 12 year old kids.

I'm talking all the little things after that which contributed to this game being easy and less punishing for garbage players.

I guess that's when Riot changed their philosophy 180 degrees because they were acquired by Tencent.

Every other champion / rework after that just was completely braindead and impossible to shut down.

I just had to play against a silver Sion who I couldn't kill no matter what, I couldn't stop him from farming at all while the rest of my team was feeding.

Go figure

Edit : Did I mention that his Q goes on a lower cooldown if you actually outplay the braindead Sion and cancel it using your stun? So if he misplays and makes it last long enough for you to stun him and break the channel he is rewarded with reduced cooldown timer on his ulti.

Also, his cooldowns are so ridiculously low he doesn't have to worry about trades whatsoever.

This champion is the epitome of bad design, in my opinion, and I know many people will disagree, but every Sion main should be at least 5-6 divisions lower than he is right now, same goes for some other champions that are so ridiculously easy and hard to shut down they artificially elevate the player's skill well above the division he deserves

Sion requires planning and strategy, and timing. There are choices involved.

Garen has no choices, you mash abilities on cooldown. No resource management, no worrying about timing or missing abilities.

And yes, he can easily run out of MP if someone is spamming Q/E at the wrong times.

Juice1 votes

Yeah absolutely no timing required with Garen, such as timing your W, timing your ulti properly, knowing when to go for a trade.

No timing btw.

Get out of here , please

so you're telling me that sion doesn't have similar timing choices?

Juice1 votes

Absolutely not. His W last forever, and even if he mistimes it, he can walk up and then get aoe damage onto you, otherwise mistiming it impossible - it's not a damage reduction it's just a shield so it doesn't matter if you block 2 aas or 1 big spell.

And knowing how to trade - he doesn't need to know how to trade because he can press W and then Q and win every trade while farming minions too.

Wave managment, the amount of minions on either side, skillshots, none of that is important.

Timing your ulti properly with Sion? What?

the only good part of garen's w lasts 0.25 seconds...

i mean, if you want to not crash, it takes a good amount of skill to consistently land sion's ult (plus learning other mechanics such as drifting) His q is easy af to avoid if you have even an ounce of mobility, same with garen's.

DuskDaUmbreon2 votes

Okay, but those are incredibly basic level timings, one of which applies to literally every champion in League.

Also, especially at a low level, timing Garen's W isn't super necessary, while timing his ult isn't difficult in the slightest, even for the newest of people (just use it when they're about at 25%-33% health).

Juice1 votes

Doesn't apply to Sion.

25-33%? Lol, timing ulti goes far beyond that my dude, it's all about when the silence ends and you get to ulti before they jump / flash away. Also has a lot to do with enemy cooldowns in general. You know nothing.

Timing Garen's W isn't super necessary, lmao what? You see noobs use his W all the time when they silence the enemy, again, you know nothing.

Annie Ashe ?

Juice1 votes

How can those two even compare to Sion?

Are you kidding me?

Tanks are the easiest, most braindead role in this game, now take the most braindead tank and compare him with Ashe who needs to kite well and actually position herself, or Annie, who needs to land her stuff on priority targets, roam, and not get outpoked / outranged during laning phase.

Sion gets big and unkillable no matter what, even if he dies he can clear the entire wave for fuck sake and then teleport INSTANTLY back in (in the early game). Get real

Ashe / Annie / Garen are all science compared to Sion

Tr4shB4NSYST3M6 votes

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL the only "science" involved w/ Garen is timing on pressing your W.

Sion Ashe Annie All have more skill involved, Ashe Annie Sion all have skillshot ults that need to be hit to get max value out of the champ, Sion you have to hit your E to set up your Q as well as early activating W for the shield explosion damage, Ashe hawkshot requires macro knowledge, and last hitting w/ Annie q makes you learn your damage to minions.

Garen as said, only has to worry about the timing on W. By far the simplest champ to play, when i want to turn my brain off for a game (usually after a tilting game or a bunch of games) I play Garen

Juice1 votes

Oh you are one of those who think that amount of skillshots = skill required to play the champion. LOL.

Simply pathetic reasoning my dude.

Garen needs to learn how to actually trade in lane, he needs to get lane advantage or he is useless in mid-game and then even more useless in late game.

Sion is useful at every stage of the game no matter what, he can int his ass off he will still have his braindead CC to fall back to, and his shield means that he doesn't have to give a fuck about taking bad trades all he has to do is press W.

Get your mind of the gutter. Skill doesn't mean the amount of skillshots a champion has.

I mean, garen can feed the entire game and still be an unstoppable tank dealing decent damage (i'm saying they're equal, not that one is worse than the other.

Juice1 votes

Wtf are you talking about? A garen who fed the entire game is an useless walking bag of 150g lol. He has no cc, he isn't tanky after his W goes away, and he deals so little damage an adc can literally lifesteal through his E if he doesn't get thornmail.

Sion is an unkillable monster who's passive rewards him for dying and playing garbage. You can't get dumber than that.

a feeding garen still has the benefits of being a garen (being incredibly tanky with lvl 11 passive), and he can still burst most squishies. His cc is his q, which works to secure kills, and he's supposed to be completely countered by adcs, as is with most tanks/juggernauts.

Juice1 votes

He can't even approach squishes, dude. And his CC is pathetic, single target silence. It doesn't work and it's a garbage spell in 99,99% cases because his targets are mostly ADCs.

Garen is countered by 80% of the champions in the game in some way or another , Sion has no bad match ups and can comeback from anything

Again Sion > Garen in terms of stupidity

my point is both champions are incredibly tanky and do their job very well, which is why the can both be considered braindead

Garen is far more easier to play over Sion.

With Garen, You do the following: [Q] -> [E] Are they Low on HP after that? Yes : Press [R] for Justice No: Walk away & wait for cooldowns before trying again.

Also, Garen has no resource & an HP Regen Passive. Which means he could stay in lane as long as he wants.

Assuming you actually interact with your opponent in lane, Sion requires abit more skill since you HAVE to land your [E] to setup your trades. Even if you sucessfully make contact, you have to hope your opponent doesnt have the ability to escape or cancel your [Q].

Also, unlike Garen, Sion has a resource he has to manage so he can't spam his abilities willy nilly.

MarkedOfKane2 votes

Teemo Is literally the easiest champion. One ability is lock on, two of his abilities are passives(One of which reactivate for an improved version of it), his ultimate is just planting a landmine. He is also primarily autoattack based and ranged.

yeah that's true, but the point is there are a lot of champs that you see a low enemy then just ult them from (x) distanc.

You are comparing an immobile AP mage to a tank lol.

Tanks are THE MOST braindead role in the game that as I've said in the post break the fundamentals of league by making laning phase useless since it's impossible to shut them down.

Picking a tank is the most idiot-proof tactic you can have, and Sion is the most braindead of all the braindead tanks in the game.

Those are just simple facts.

Bruisers require skill - tanks not

Well there have to be tanks in the game, and they're simply doing what they do best: soak up damage, be a nuisance, etc

I don't think tanks are a healthy design. Medium reward - zero risk playstyle shouldn't be as rewarding as it is but it's a 5v5 game so yeah

His Q is pretty much useless if he can't land a charged shot, his W is meant o say, get away from me and so you should, his E is a poking tool that inflicts a slow when you're hit. His passive is good, but not broken. Honestly, if you get BORK or BC, you should be fine. all you have to do is play under tower if you get out farmed and freeze lane, then he'll be open for ganks.

It takes skill to int with Sion. Geez have some respect.

Infernape1 votes

At least Garen doesn't have to aim skillshots or has a delay in his damage. Not to mention Garen doesn't have a resource bar to manage and his passive rewards him for taking bad trades, on top of his ult passive making him a threat even if he's insanely behind.
