Why do riot bait new players with recommended items?

ancient coin/medallion is so bad on ANY melee champ, why is it recommended on him considering the nature of his kit is to engage or peel? does riot actually play test these champs enough because i dont think they do?

Coin synergises with his ult

Rakan is ranged and his kit is more utility focused than damage focused so coin suits him better than the other support items.

Rakan has I think around 350 range, the same as Thresh's. Rakan's kit is based around dashing in and out of battles, healing and shielding his allies as he does so. Not engaging. If you try to engage on him, you're going to die. Rakan's ultimate synergizes very well with the Talisman of Ascension active, giving him a giant burst of movement speed.

thresh range is 450 and Rakans "range" is 300. he is practically melee for all intents and purposes, just monkey coding. and btw, item 3800 synergises better with his ult and it gives HP and mana. talismen is just awful.

There also changing the support items next patch they might of not wanted to have to recode his recomended items after one patch

Can Rakan reliably harass at a consistent rate in lane? No? then RIP
Is he Melee? No? Well, does he have a reliable way of proccing Spoils of War? No? then

Ill let you figure out the rest.

Also, Even if he WAS melee, Coin would far from be trash on him, the line Gives an Armor item in the form of raptors cloak and Talisman of Ascension has the best active of all the Support gold gen items, being a speed boost for both engage and disengage.
