How do you deal with Thresh and Miss Fortune as Jhin?

I just got dumpstered as Jhin by a MissFortune and Thresh . I in part blame autofill at low MMR cuz my Nami support didn't know what she was doing, and didn't use abilities effectively at all (all lane she hit 2 Qs that weren't't totally given to her), while thresh was really good. At the same time I was struggling to figure out how to deal with the enemy comp, which was definitely a factor. You have to be behind minions to avoid thresh Q, but if you are then you take tons of free damage from MF Q. The other option is to be further back, but then they can simply starve you of cs, and if you approach to cs they know where you will move to so you're gonna die or be pushed outa lane. MF aoe slow also makes it much easier for Thresh to land his hook. Thesh lockdown generally also makes MF ult so immense.

The only other thing I could think to do is bait out their abilities and then make plays but that's difficult when they know they're zoning you; plus doing so is very risky. I couldn't rely on my jungler for help as he was constantly top for some reason. Should I just have ulted them, when they were at 70-50% hp, just to chunk their hp, so they would be feeling some pressure? I was considering it.

Did they just have a better comp then us? Maybe the matchup wouldn't have seemed so difficult if Nami would have applied some pressure back on them and had synergy with me; but it felt like a very difficult match up to deal with. It felt like unless I somehow gained Gosu level perfect adc mechanics, and totally set up Nami a bubble and a winnable situation it was impossible to go even with.

How do I deal with this???? Are there any good tips for carrying a terrible support other then what's very obvious like playing carefully and setting up situations so they can use cc???? How do you deal with MF and Thresh synergy?

To be honest with you, I stopped reading your post when you blamed your support.

Because as a support, you're automatically devoid of all responsibility for how the laning phase goes? It's stupid to blame a support for everything, but it's equally stupid to pretend a support can't be blamed for anything.

If the enemy team has a great support that sets up plays well, and has good synergy with their adc, they're going to do better than the lane with a good adc, but a support that can't do anything. You're just as responsible as the other 4 players on your team for playing well.

He didn't even pretend that it was 100% the Nami's fault, he just said that part of why it was so difficult is his support didn't do much.

THANKYOU! idk if hes just trolling...

Any advice for me? = P

I've always hated laning against MF, so I'm not sure what to say on that. I'm not sure if you know about the different types of lanes when it comes to bot, but it can basically be broken into three categories; kill, sustain, or poke, largely decided by what support you have. Generally, kill > sustain > poke > kill. There are a ton of variables in lane, and it's obviously not always that straight forward though.

Poke lanes beat kill lanes because they can stay far enough away so the kill lane can't engage, and they just whittle away at their health until they're too low to go in and die or have to back. That's supports like vel'koz, karma, etc. Kill lanes beat sustain lanes because they're about going all in, and sustain lanes don't have time to heal up. Champions like thresh, blitz, leona, etc set up a play to get a kill or force a back all at once rather than chipping away at your health. Sustain lanes beat poke lanes because when going in for a trade, they do some poke, and heal up whatever the enemy did so they always come out on top of a trade. That's supports like sona, soraka, nami, etc.

There's a lot more complexity to it than just that, but that's kind of the basics of it if you haven't heard about this before.

To be honest, then you didn't see the point of the post, and are simply inaccurately judging; idk if you're just looking to troll. I said it was in part my supports fault because it's true, if you have ever seen how bad ppl trying to play supports in low mmr can be you would agree. That fact doesn't mean I'm assigning too much blame to my support, or not owning what I was doing wrong and trying to improve.

Part of it was definitely my fault, which is why I said I was struggling to figure out how to deal with the synnergy between MF and Thresh, and why I'm asking for advice to improve. But you never read that. If I had just wanted to vent and blame others I could have just said something like "OMG riot! auto fill gives me so many terrible supports! I can't win anything with them! It's all their fault!" but I didn't.

honestly you'd best hope your support can cc them while you attack whilst also dodging the other support's cc. bot lane is a 2 player vs 2 player lane.

As a Bronze (LOL I R SO Funn3H) Jhin main I'll tell you what I do in this situation.

  1. Wait for thresh to blow his Death Sentence, you now have approximately 20 seconds without being harassed again.

  2. Shoot two autos at minions, hold your third shot, position yourself to the nearest target at max range, auto the ADC or Supp, Q, and auto again if you are still in good position for the fourth shot crit. Use the speed boost and reposition yourself on the field. If they go out of range just save the 4th shot for a minion.

You can sometimes save the 4th, shoot a minion, and use the speed to chase them down if you're W is up and they're trying to get away. By the time you land your W or Q your reload should be finished. Don't get cocky. Jhin is a very passive ADC with low mobility, and you just used all of the mobility that you had with that 4th shot.

─ A lot of people will see the 4th shot coming and back off. I don't mind if they do one bit. This makes the enemy miss CS in a lot of cases. Milk the reload timer for all its worth. If you are cocky, then do what I just said above, and burn that 4th shot on a minion to chase them down and land a Q+W/W+Q combo and piss on them. Once they're rooted just turn around and go back to CS.

Repeat.

Some Jins will save the 4th shot to harass. I prefer to engage with the 3rd auto and go for the 3+Q+4 combo. I try to keep my 4's sporadic so they don't expect it every time. If you're in a really good position 3+W+4+Q is sometimes more efficient. It just depends on the situation and how much mana you're looking to burn. W's get expensive really fast if you waste them. For basic lane poke I always just auto+Q and reposition no matter what shot I'm on. I don't like trading damage if I can help it. When I start going for the 3+W+4 combos I want you dead.

It's all situational, dude. Trade all of your damage while Death Sentence is on cooldown. If you can't dodge it, I feel sorry for you. lol!!! If your support is doing their job ... this is all viable.

Morgana support with Jhin = Awesome.

I'll try to put that into practice. I definitely have been, though I will try to do it more consistently. You're post was the most helpful, so thanks for helping me.

I did dodge his death sentence, he had good aim and timing, though I managed to dodge most of them. The big problem was that Thresh would either rush me or abruptly run to the side of minions and get into a range and angle where he could hook me and it's very difficult to dodge. Normally things like that don't happen with a decent support, provided that you're not positioning badly, because running that close and predictably like that is begging to get ccd and blown up. However the Nami just sat there and let it happen to me. A few times he flayed me making the hook easy.

Idk what to do in that situation except hit my head off the keyboard, cuz if you play passive enuf to avoid that you will just be totally zoned from cs. I couldn't rely on her to stop Thresh's movement at all. The only thing I guess i could have done is expect that to maybe happen because my supp is that bad, so be ready to throw a trap to stop Thresh. However it took me by surprise when Thresh did that, and when Nami didn't do anything about it.

Thresh isn't the tankiest support out there. Fortune will always harass you with Double Up and Make it Rain. I'd focus all of my exchanges on Thresh first and get him to at least 50%, but that's just me. If you're support is at 100% and he's down to 50% or lower he won't be as cocky. MF has insane amounts of regen, Thresh does not. If you can poke Thresh without taking damage, do it, then zone in on MF.

Honestly, when you have Blitzcrank Nautilus Thresh bottom lane as supports, any ranged mage support that isn't Morgana is in for a bad day.
