For real, did you seriously like season 5?

Ok, one thing to note. I didn't totally like season 5 (or this preseason). But I think riot has at least "tried" to make it on course on 5.22 to make things right. They are still attempting. What I'm saying here? Well season 5, although innovational was a very restrictive meta. In which you were** "forced"** to do certain things, and "mistakes" were made.

First hand came the jungle which in the preseason, if my memory is correct Warwick, Vi and J4 and fiddlesticks were only viable. If you can't play these champions, basically you were not allowed to jungle since the harshness of the camps kicked out many junglers out. (If you played in this environment, warwick had a 90% pick or ban. Hardly balanced than yasuo or tyrn this year) This had many complaints, which made certain champions** "non-existant"** rather than being** "off-meta"** most notably, poor nautilus.

Next came what can be said the most changing element of season 5. The cinderhulk. Although innovative, it produced a lot of abusive gameplay tactics, such as the top-laner smite gromp start which only the blue side toplaner had access to, denying every autoattack from your foe. And of course cinderhulk made 3 unkillable champions on either side, making one teamfight cost you three turrets. (Ok and you thought only in this patch one teamfight will cost you a total game.) The top tp LVL2 tactic also came around this point which I believe is still one of the largest culprits of your enemy snowballing if your champion was unable to do it. This lvl2 teleport was the start of the concept of **"skipping laning phase" **in which in tournament scenes became rampant, to the point in worlds they entirely skipped it making a lot of viewers disspointed of the lack of action because of "stalling" of the already long 40-min game time. If you remember in season 5 there was a period around 30-40 mins in which no other side was able to get objectives, **but revolve around the map in circles for 10 mins in hope of catching the unlucky someone. ** Since humans are not perfect and waiting for that mistake to come out for 10 mins is not about tactics or skills was unfair, good player, bad players and even pros did suffered from this needless time zone. Wards do expire, people might group or not because of the time, it was rather about which side has more damn luck.

What do you think? Was season 5 perfect? No it hardly isn't. And for me, it was quite tiresome in some points, and I believe in riot that they are showing some sort of action to remove these element that were a contraversial issue. And I doubt this preseason it would stay like it is now.

I feel like Season 5, even at it's most poorly balanced state, was at least fun, win or lose. The current patch has remained largely unfun, win or lose.

I'm eagerly awaiting changes to the game, since right now it feels almost like a chore to play, and that's not a good sign for a game.

All that's happening on boards is people are experiencing change and instead of adapting to it, they come and whine.

I personally love that a lot of these new items and masteries are amazing on melee carries.

I really didin't get what the boards meant about "ap nerfs". Most ad mids (with the exception of yas) was nerfed to the ground. i never bought mana pots and the new dorans regen and black seal is so rad.

Also I just happen to be the 1% minority of using thunderlords decree with 18 cunning. Like i'm so cunning dammit because i know how op it is.

theyre mainly talking about the relative cost decrease of ad items compared to ap items (and tank items btw).

riot increased ambient gold in the game, and the gold you receive from turrets and minions. to compensate, they increased the cost of most ap and defensive items, but not of marksmen and other ad items.

causing them to powerspike much sooner than they used to.

almost all mages (except vlad and some other outliers like kennen) also use mana as a resource. mana has been iffy for a lot of mages with recent changes.

plus, warlords is massively op. and to get thunderlords, ap champs need to give up 7% magic pen and other useful masteries that would help them dealing damage.

The only thing you give up going 12/18 is 7% pen and Deathfire Touch (presumably you dont want warlords or fervor as an AP)

i liked the patches shortly after the juggernaut patch.

garen, skarner and darius were quickly balanced to reach around 50% winrate after the initial changes. the only one who needed more work was morde.

but generally all types of champions were viable. melee adc, marksmen, and heavy bruisers were able to carry the same. you didnt have to rely on your botlane to win to be able to carry the game.

assassins werent nearly as bad as theyre now after 5.22. tanks were still too squishy lategame, but viable. even some of the mages made a comeback. lux was pretty strong before this patch.

now skip forward to this giant mess. botlane and marksmen needed changes. but those changes shouldnt include buffing the shit out of them so they outshadow everyone and everything in the game. marksmen can 1v1 assassins at this point.

we have nieche cases of tryn and yasuo going ham with the new crit mastery and items (though warlords is going to get fixed soon).

the snowballing changes make no sense whatsoever. a small lead to either side causes a game to completely collapse and end by 20 minutes.

i just dont see how half of these marksmen buffs or general changes to the game were even necessary.

there is no reason marksmen get better defensive stats on their items than tanks.

I like the masteries change. I couldn't even tell you what most of the old tree was. The problem I see us that the ad masters seem just better. DFT not any good until you get ap and is way stronger with dot abilitys. I wish the had something equivalent to stacking ad keystone.

Yes. It was one of the most balanced Seasons, alongside with the Season 2.

you do know that you are switching from being forced to do one thing to being forced to do another thing right?

I enjoyed season 5 quite a bit. Except the tank meta was kind of annoying. This is preseason afterall, and it's far too early to pass judgement on it. But unless major changes happen, I don't think I'll continue playing.

No one's claiming it was. It was simply better than the steaming pile of shit we have now.

In the preseason 5 jungle I was running Master Yi, Nocturne, Udyr, Kayle and Hecarim with no problems because even though the camps hit hard, you could get through them with a 9/21 runepage or simply run TP/smite (viable on Yi, Udyr and Hecarim) and finish 3 camps, get smite upgrade and TP back to a tier 2 tower. This works because the smite upgrades were cheap. Junglers in most of season 5 had the gold needed to actually carry.

Warwick was permabanned but still counterable, since the bug only emphasized his strengths while his weaknesses were still there. Trynd and Yasuo are permabanned now because their masteries make it so that a former weakness, sustain, is now a strength. This is vastly different than Warwick's case.
