why does noone know about the level 9 power spike?

level 9 is the magical level where you can upgrade your trinket and get free wards! having free maphacks is such an important power spike; I don't know why nobody knows about this?!

I used to forget it easily, but I started doing custom item sets for my champions and placing it on the front row. Having it light up as an option helps me remember it every game :>

Yep. My item sets always have trinkets, upgraded trinkets, wards, and elixirs.

Literally the only issue I have with it is sometimes I want to "preload" it before I hit level 9. Effectively, I'd like to buy it like level 7-8 or so, and the moment I hit 9 it would instantly upgrade to the maxed out form, giving no benefit till then. I don't know how many times early on I have 250 gold sitting around and nothing I can build it into, and I just stare longingly at that trinket upgrade.

Would have to be some sort of tax if I read this correctly but if you get like 250 gold in let's say a bank and on back it instantly upgrades that would be fine but if you get it from lane without backing than there will have to be like a 30% tax so like 75 gold extra.

I'm more meaning "Oh, I have this gold left over, lets upgrade my tri.... god damn it. Still level 8." cases. You can buy the trinket's upgrade, but it will do nothing until you actually hit level 9. Just prevents you from having to back to go grab the trinket. Only really helps you if you tend to stay away from base for long periods of time (I have a bad habit of this, hell recalling with 5k gold is not an uncommon thing for me if I lose track while ripping up the map).

They really need to add the upgrade to the suggested builds so more people know it exists. Every single game I have to tell my team "upgrade your trinkets, we need vision" and somehow they all ignore it and then complain about the team when they die from going off into the unwarded enemy jungle alone.

I was going to log in to comment about the mindless qq's from support mains on the board, but I took the time to check your recent matches and it seems you play adc. Which is funny, because all of them have upgraded yellow trinket. While contributing to wards on the map is good, seriously, you should get blue trinkets on adcs. especially when you play ones that have to face bushes (Ezreal, Vayne). The longer vision may sound good but walking up to put down a ward can get you killed. Wards are supposed to keep you from getting killed, so that kind of defeats the purpose of upgrading your yellow trinket. Still think that these threads are a lot of fishing for attention, especially when I remember games where I've placed nearly double the wards of our support as a mid laner. But no of course supports contribute the most towards providing vision because "muh sightstone." Threads like these are for people to feel self righteous about upgrading trinket and support players to complain even more.

Blue trinket is ONLY, I repeat, ONLY good if the majority of the map is already lit up.

For pros and challengers, maybe, but until you're in plat, you're going to take the double yellow in 90% of games.

I'll risk a facecheck for 3 minutes of vision if we only have 2 wards on the map. Because if you have 2 wards on the map, every bush is a facecheck.

You know, as much as I'd like to agree about getting blue trinket on ADC, nobody on my team gets the 2 charge trinket so I feel like I have to get it to keep vision up.

There are people who would try to argue that 250 gold is too much to spend for lane safety and ganking enemies who are out of place. For some reason assassin and ADC mains strike me as the demographics most likely to support said theory.

ADC's should be getting Scrying Orb and Farsight Orb. They really don't need yellow trinkets because their support should have a lot of wards in the area. Assassins should have their lane generally warded.

That depends on the support. I hate when my ADC doesn't at least start with the warding totem. Until I either have sightstone or greater stealth totem, I am not a ward factory.

Everyone starts with yellow trinket, but when the support picks up a sightstone, the ADC should get a blue trinket to get the free check on an area.

Everyone should have their area warded. Pre 9, buying a green ward or two can often save your life (especially mid lane), after nine you really should have your trinket upgraded. No real excuse not to for any role / lane.

You honestly just need enough to know that the enemy jungler is not ganking your lane. Even if you don't have that info, you can stay safe enough until you can back for items.

Well ya, there's that as well. So like, let's assume we're mid. If the jungle is bot, and top is still in their lane, you won't have to be worried about a gank any time relatively soon. The extra ward can allow you to ward a jungle entrance / jungle camp as mid laner easily though (assuming you're able to roam or clear really quickly) which allows for a lot more knowledge about the jungle's position, and opens up the ability to collide on them easily as a team.

My point of view, is that I will almost NEVER be mad at a team mate who buys wards.

I feel I might be the only one in my MMR that upgrades/changes trinkets when needed to.

I have countless times in Skype/any VOIP to tell my team to upgrade trinkets. Almost 6 times a game. Yet nobody does it and they say ''oh shut up'' after the 10th time.

It's not hard and it's very affordable after your first or second back after hitting level 9. Hell, I've had friends go the whole game w/o upgrading trinkets, but buying Elixirs because ''full build''. :/

I think no one knows about it because in the majority of my games, I am the only person on either team that upgrades the thing. Best 250 gold EVER!!!!!! srsly.. Vision helps prevent ganks, sets up ganks and wins games. Why no one understands that boggles me...

The only time I can remember that delaying my trinket upgrade helped me was when I was in a close fight on new fiora and I only lived cause the tiamat active killed the other guy before he got his last auto off. This led to BDS (big dick syndrome) and I assumed wards were for supports...face checking throws are the best, right?
