One thing that's been really bugging me lately is how hard it is to save be :/ or rather, how hard it is to obtain it now. I'm a decently high level and leveling up takes a pretty long time, considering. Just wish the be gain wasn't dictated by rng alone :'/

Nah I completely understand that. Although, I haven't really done the hard math. Do you think BE gains are slower/less than the previous system's IP gains?

As someone that already owns most of the champions, I'm just casually waiting to actually get a champ shard for one of the 10-15 that I don't already own (which has yet to happen, which is kind of disappointing). And even if it is slower, what are your thoughts on the perspective that all the free stuff (skin shards, mastery level ups from champ shards, etc) make up for the slower rate?

Nyloaf4 votes

When an entire currency system depends on rng alone, you know theres something wrong. Getting champion shards you WANT can be awesome because of the decreased price, but like I said, it all depends on rng. I believe that the IP gains from every game was a MUCH better system, at least in that one specific aspect. I like how they combined IP and blue essence to make getting skin/champion shards easier, but when you earn so little in a much less continuous, reliable manor, it takes ages to get anything done. I believe if they kept the be changes the same, and added a small amount of be gained after every game (lower than it used to be, since once you have the funds, buying things is easier), it would be such a better system.

Slythion1 votes

I can agree with that. It felt much better to be rewarded and to earn something for playing all my games, not just one a day. After that single game it just...there's no rewards yaknow? It feels frustrating.

I agree that combining IP and BE was a good move as well, but I would take your solution and dilute it a bit. I think I would be satisfied with generally lower BE refund prices on champion shards in order to earn consistent BE for actually playing the game. This way frequent players are actually rewarded and can progress at a rate proportional to their experience, because having that 1 game a day limitation doesn't let dedicated players separate themselves from casual players.

idk though, I do wish Riot would at least comment about it.

Nyloaf1 votes

yeah, honestly, it really pisses me off that riot hasn't even commented on it. They havent even been like "So hey, how do you guys like the new be changes? Oh you guys don't like them? Alright, what changes do you think need to be made?"

:/ i might just give up my hopes for getting camille and settle for akali or something.

Slythion1 votes

Akali is a great champion to master (although absolutely cancer to play against). It's no mistake that the consistent Rank 1 NA player is a top lane akali one-trick

Nyloaf1 votes

hahaha I may just go on ahead and buy her then :) I'm no good with yasuo, but maybe this is one cancer lane champ I can learn the ropes to

Slythion1 votes

I wish you as much luck as my morals can allow.

If you're curious, the Rank 1 player goes by the name of "TF Blade", him and Professor Akali would be good sources to learn the champion from

Nyloaf1 votes

I've actually been watching Professor Akali for quite a while now, that's one of the reason why I'm a bit interested in playing her sometime :P

It's the other way around for me. I've been playing since s4, and I own every single champ, still have 30k BE and at least 100 champion shards (too lazy to use them). I don't even know what to do with it

Slythion1 votes

I do find it really handy how you can use a champion shard + mastery shards to upgrade champion mastery, but I believe that's the only thing you can do with champ shards if you own all the champions haha

Revert Fizz :[

Slythion1 votes

What about old Fizz was "better"? What about new Fizz do you not enjoy? I don't personally play him myself, but as an immobile mage player he's not my personal favorite champion :p

Diamond2Kappa2 votes

Binary and unreliable af now, having a 2 second timer where you cant do anything before sux :[

They just made his damage numbers stupidly high to make his garbage kit somewhat work, and now they dont want to fix it lul [zombie-nunu-bummed]

Slythion1 votes

I gotta admit that doesn't sound too great, although how was old Fizz any different? And there's always hope, Rengar's Q is getting reverted (which I'm sure people have mixed opinions about)

Diamond2Kappa2 votes

Old Fizz had DPS, both as a stronger dot and as on hit damage on W. Now W is just one burst and the dot does like 0 damage. Same for his ult, its like playing a champ that only has one spell, but that spell is an instakill. Not very fun to play and not very fun to play against.

I asked a Rioter about changing Fizz yesterday and he didnt exactly give us much hope

Slythion1 votes

oh boy, is that why that one dude with the turtle icon spams "revert fizz" on every post? lol

I'm frustrated with my main rn (Syndra). They showed her attention with some bug fixes, but she's been in a really shit balance spot since the preseason and they haven't even really talked about her outside of "oh ya we saw a bunch of bugs pop up and only fixed about half of them".

It's been extremely frustrating

Diamond2Kappa2 votes

Iss me but apparently the mods dont like my message of god :[

Syndra? Playing burst champs mid in 2k18 lul - Riot

Slythion1 votes

Man you changed your icon! I always recognized you with the turtle.

But ya, Syndra/Burst champs are feelin pretty awful right now which hurts me :(

Diamond2Kappa2 votes

Nah the turtle icon account is just banned on boards :[ lul

Slythion2 votes

oh shit lmfao, that is unfortunate. I respect your dedication at the very least my dude

Nidalee needs an overhaul and a defined role. What is she? Mid? Top? Jungle? Support sometimes?? I've even seen her as ADC (don't ask me why cause idk either). Is she a mage, assassin, or fighter? Is she a weird dysfunctional mix of all 3? Instead of having one thing she excels in she does everything, but she does it all anywhere from bad to mediocre. I love her concept and she has potential to be cool but her kit sucks ass. I want an overhaul

Slythion2 votes

I know the schedule for champion updates rn are Swain (completed), Irelia, then Aatrox (about time). Would you want to see Nidalee take up the next spot then?

With Riot's recent stance on not wanting to restrict champs to a specific role (see: ekko changes + future plans to replace bot lane's adc meta), do you still feel like Nidalee should only belong to 1-2 roles?

What class should she belong to? Assassin, mage, fighter? Situational? She definitely does have a "jack of all trades" thing going on, but is that really a bad thing?

Rico Nasty2 votes

That's the thing though. She's not a jack of all trades. She CAN do everything, but that doesn't mean she SHOULD because she does pretty equally bad at all her roles imo. They need to rework her cougar form thing, honestly. That's the main thing. It's so damn clunky and click-point, and it's a little weird to me that she only has one damaging ability in human form. Also what the fuck is that heal doing in her kit, lol? It's like it got teleported there. In terms of role I think thematically she'd fit in the jungle, and with that spear her ganks would be great. I want her to be a slightly tanky assassin-mage like Diana or Eve. I want them to keep the spear and some form of gap closer, and a highly reworked version of her cougar form, but other than that all her abilities need decent sized changes or outright overhauls.

Slythion2 votes

I think players would appreciate having another dedicated AP jungler as well, as there really aren't that many (outside "ap" tanks of course like Zac or Amumu).

Out of curiosity, would you put a Nidalee rework before, say: Volibear, Pantheon, Quinn, or Mordekaiser? I just kind of threw some problem champs in there to see just how serious of a problem you view Nidalee's identity in compared to others in league.

Rico Nasty1 votes

In terms of needing it the most:

  1. Voli
  2. Panth
  3. Nid
  4. Morde
  5. Quinn

I feel like Voli and Panth either shitstomp your entire team and snowball out of control or are basically unplayable and it all depends on what's meta. Morde got a rework a couple years ago and it was problematic for a lot of players, I think a mini-rework would be nice for him. Quinn does not need one imo. I put Nid right in the middle cause while she is def problematic, she has seen multiple reworks and number tweaks while Voli and Panth have yet to see that and imo are far more annoying than her.

Gosh, where would I even begin lol

  1. Make Sona's Q is skillshot so people will stop complaining that she's an easy no brain champion. I say this as a Sona main, as I want a way to show off my mad lvl 7 mastery skills on Sona other than my ability to sidestep and Blitz/Thresh/Leona hook or land an ult on 3 or more champs, but also because I take personal offense when the community complains that Sona is too easy or she's not viable in high elo. Like, other than that's THE POINT OF SONA, cuz she's basically the GAREN OF BOT LANE, but like, I feel like for the mid-Sona's out there, a skillshot Q with more damage on it than a targeted Q has been a long time coming, and I understand why Riot hasn't done it yet because giving Sona more power on her Q in any way, while leaving her other abilities untouched, would probably actually break her. But like, I don't get paid to find solutions, so idk. #sonaisfineassheistbh

  2. Adjust the sightstone changes. Like, when you're on the team that's ahead, you don't really notice anything different other than getting your Sightstone a little later than you're used to (maybe like 10 mins or so?), but like...god damn, I've been on the losing team enough times where my ADC farms SO BADLY and my gold income is SO LOW, that like, pre-sightstone changes I could still have my sightstone at 10 mins regardless if I was on the losing side, but now I've gone games where I haven't had my sightstone until well into mid game because the gold income was so low I couldn't complete the quest. Like, FEELS BAD MAN, that the support is punished so heavily because the ADC is a potato.

  3. Add a small amount of BE that drops after each game played. Like, doesn't even have to be a whole lot, and can even decrease in drop amounts the more games you play within 24 hours, but right now BE accumulation feels absolutely horrible, and I often rely on my random champion shards to unlock champions rather than wait to save enough BE to straight up buy a champion.

Slythion1 votes

Alright I'm gonna try to break this down haha

  1. So right now you like Sona as she is, and recognize that she really doesn't need to be viable in super high elos? Being the "garen of bot lane" is fine, and I do agree tbh. Would this just be a complaint about the community then, and not Riot?

  2. I'm more of a mid/jungle/top player so bot lane meta is pretty foreign to me, although I watched Phreaks patch breakdown which included the sightstone changes. It seems like they opened up a lot of free room and early power for supports now that they aren't shackled to that mandatory 800 gold item, right? I guess it the changes have had their pros and cons, but what would you do in order to make it not so "feels bad man" with your potato adcs :p

  3. We actually have another comment chain that addressed the whole BE/currency issues! The consistent theme I hear from people is that it feels bad to not be rewarded past that 1st win of the day, and I would agree. My recommendation was to maybe reduce the refund prices for champion shards and add a consistent BE gain for playing games, this would allow consistent/frequent players to separate themselves from the casuals and actually progress at a rate proportional to their experience/dedication. Thoughts?

Sonasaurous1 votes

Lol

  1. Well, yeah, I guess it is more of a community complaint, lol.

  2. With the sightstone changes, I get that Riot wanted to give out a free sightstone at around the 10-15 minute mark, but when you're behind and you don't get the sightstone until like 20 minutes, it feels horrible. I'd rather Riot just give the sightstone out at the 10 minute mark, separate from the item quest. You kow, kind of like the boots rune. I feel like tying vision to a gold-based quest on a support who is heavily dependent on their ADC to the complete the quest is a horrible idea, especially when you're behind AND have no vision. It makes the already one-sided snowbally games even more one-sided.

3)Anything would be better than the current BE system, lol. Your suggestion sounds logical, so I'm on board with it.

Slythion1 votes

For me personally, I absolutely love what they did with targeted spells and how it draws minion aggro now. Certain matchups feel so much less...unfair, to play against, and I feel like it opens up a lot of room to balance certain champions.
