like a minion will be at 10% health and sometimes he'll auto attack it and it will just die and nothing will happen and other times it works perfectly.

The execute only applies to melee basic attacks (as it has since the patch after it was released).

Thresh has a ranged basic attack.

The gold-sharing and heal occur if you kill a minion through any source of damage.

Last hit the minion normally and take advantage of Flay's passive.

No, simply last hitting procs it no matter how you do it. The E passive damage just makes it easier, so it's a good practice to let it charge up when you need to last hit.

OH wait I see now. Anyone can get the proc but only melees get the execute part of it. I guess most Thresh's are just really bad at last hitting

  • Thresh is ranged

  • You have to actually last hit properly

  • You can wait for his Flay passive

I haven't noticed an issue with it when I last hit. As long as it isn't on cd from the last time.
